So excited to see how the boats work in this game

I am pretty stoked to see how boats will work in general. Here are some of the things I am interested to find out
  • How will ships be able to help nodes (I assume trade routes)
  • How will ship combat work (If there will be)
  • How customizable will ships be?
  • Boarding parties and Piracy?
  • Exploration?
How excited are you all for this?

Comments

  • I just wanna be a pirate and plunder y'alls ships!
  • I have yet to play a MMO with boats so not really sure what to expect or what i would like to see but i think exploration, some form of fishing and PvP battles would be alot of what i would like :)

The answers to your bullets is simple......  they float !
  • I must say quite excited to, because as shitty as Archeage sadly became over time.. the boat system on its own was absolutely fucking amazing. I spent hours a day on my Galleon, on trading ships, on fishing boats and loved everything about it.
So if they pull that off correctly to, that could be an amazing feature
  • My irl friends have it in their minds to be a pirate...
  • Fishing boats FTW!
  • If it's on par with AA alpha or an ever better experience than, I'll be over the moon. I be comin' for yer booty!
  • As some people said, if boats are archeage level thats enough!
I think they said there`s a node on an island or that a node includes that one, that could bring us some interesting stuff. Imagine a siege from a ship or something like that(i`m going too far i think)
They also said that we will be able to upload images to make a crest so, there`s that too!

I can't wait to see how Boats work should add a very nice dimension to the game.
  • ArcheAge really nailed that feeling of sailing and it was exhilarating.  I'm hoping Ashes can give me that same feeling.  I'm looking forward to my first ship/boat.  I'm also hoping that we can have some /waypoint auto travel in water, otherwise, how are we going to move the ships?
  • There was a good naval section of the Ashen Forge interview last Friday somewhere around min 12.

Ships have different classes of ships, and you need the right class for the right circumstance - pve, caravans, pvp.

You have to summon your ship from shore, so if you eliminate your opponent at sea, there is a real opportunity to win the battle.

Everything about ArcheAge was below avarage but the boats. The only reason why that game got hyped that much and survived all the way up to the point where it just crossed the line.. 100% because of boats and naval combat. Those things got just nailed on the head. Spent more time on my galleon than anywhere else in that game.
  • My supreme wish for AoC is that the boat system isn't an afterthought and is axtuaact an integral part of the game mechanics for trade.

This means the need for ships for trade runs, sieging coastal nodes and even PvE content at sea. I want there to be a reason people fo out on the ocean.

Because I'm going to be there, lusting after your rich booty!!!!
