Torches and lightning

hi all

im all about immersion and feel like nights should be dark enough that it would be a benefit to carry some source of light, either a torch or a lightball spell etc. Atleast dark enough that there's an insentive to carry a lightsource at any given time, should you not be able to get back in town before nightfall

have they mentioned anything about this already? it's kinda a minor thing.

Comments

  • There is a hovering torchball in the game.
  • there is a topic about this already: https://forums.ashesofcreation.com/discussion/37733/let-there-be-dark/p1

But yeah as Dygz said they do show off some illumination spells here: https://youtu.be/KHTWhIF5cqI?t=1m24s

  • There are meant to be dark areas in the game. Most of the underground reveals have been to show off the bio-lighting in the Underrealm. But the night footage we have seen and other quotes about separate day/night spawns and mechanics does lead to the idea of dark nights and areas.
  • Not too dark, that crap was annoying in Dark and Light before they changed it. Not to mention you could just adjust gamma and bypass it, so don't see the real point to go overboard with it.
  • Lighting can either be tedious or a gameplay addition.

Sea of Thieves made it interesting with lighting have a real effect on gameplay.  It made it easier for you to see, but it also made it easier to be seen.  There's a potential there for "Advanced"Lighting spells to be self seen or group wise only while remaining dark to others around... just thinking out loud.
