I notice a lot of the PvP focused post are 'for the guild' or 'for myself.' Many, if not all of us, know this game is trying to change those objectives. Not because they are wrong or bad, but because Ashes wants to be different and give a more meaningful reason to it.

Ashes might be out for several years before the PvP crowd starts to focus on a more meaningful, node oriented, goal. Although I know several PvP oriented players in the forums are looking for the node-war type thing as a primary and some as a secondary. So that change in mindset might appear sooner than later.
The one hindrance I see to node warfare being as meaningful to players as guild warfare is the fact that players have no real voice over who is a member of their node.

This is especially true in a game that offers a conflict structure where membership needs to be by mutual agreement, and is capped in terms of numbers on both sides.

Now, I'm not saying it won't happen, and obviously node wars will have repercussions, throughout the area (and throughout the world in regards to metropolis nodes).

What I am saying is that the way I see it, most players will look more at node warfare in regards to the content and opportunities it opens and closes, and will look at guild warfare is something with actual meaning to them as a player.

I could be wrong, but I see no reason to find meaning in a war that players can leave and join on either side at will.

Players can join and leave any war on either side at will.
Depends on the specific interests of the player at any given moment.
Guild warfare has the least meaning for me.
That is a factor of playstyle.

So, farming Caravans will get old but running around randomly attacking people won't?

It's a game. Hopefully a brilliant beautiful one with unlimited content. However, being realistic, if all you do is one thing you will be bored and unfortunately miss out on a lot this game offers. Regardless of the one thing you decide to farm.

I don't think a majority of players want PvP. I especially don't think a majority of the ones that do our brainless.
    Your comment already said otherwise...
Caravans are static and repetitive event.
Randomly attackign people are - you wrote it - random, so dynamic and not repetitive...

That's true that there are more PvE players than PvP players, I only said, that the current deseign not really going to bait loots of players here for the PvP.

I'm still not sure why caravans are static. It's not going to be just a few players always running caravans. It's more unlikely the PC guard will always be the same. So your chances of more in depth PvP would be attacking caravans guarded by PvP players, not a random guy that might or might not fight back.

Do you think all caravan guards will be identical but all random players will be unique?

Caravans are not static. A wide variety of factors go into the construction of each wagon in a caravan, the number of wagons in a caravan, the configurations of the NPCs players choose as escorts, the config of player guards who initially sign on to escort the caravan, and the random people who sign up to defend or attack the caravan along the path of its journey. In addition to the procedurally generated environmental attacks, like earthquakes, etc.
There is nothing static about caravans.

If all you do is attack caravans, you probably should not be playing an MMORPG. Ashes is not an MMOFPS.
Also, there are several more options for PvP combat than just caravans.
