Ashes of code?

Are the ashes of creation dev team considering using alternative codes such as Dx12 and Vulkan  i understand if it not being considered time and effort to do those codes. But for those of us with below specs or mid tier systems will it be considered if it does provide fluid gp and performance.

  • @linustouchtips This was vaguely answered some time ago in a livestream (and some threads, e.g. https://forums.ashesofcreation.com/discussion/36952/directx-12-directx-11-etc-etc). Basically, they're going for DirectX. DX12 is 100% sure - everything below is up to their technical commitment, abilities and effort.

  • Supporting older systems does cobble what they can do with the game.  One major MMORPG that has only been out for a few years has ceased supporting some of the older systems.  Supposedly it was to free up what they can do with the game.

i understand the desire for ppl to want games coded in that format, but with technology always moving forward there would be no reason as to set themselves back. I feel bad for anyone who won't be able to meet the specs for this game. I support the choice to move forward with technology as well as the genre.

the game still has minimum 2 years before it is completed if you set aside $5 a week by time the game is released you'll have plenty for a machine that can run this game. hopefully you're able to do that.

well computex is in june so we will have more of an idea of what the future hardware will be priced at. im assuming the dev team wants to accommodate as many people as possible so they'll be trying to use the best code for everyone. you'd be surprised on how many people have lower tier systems. steam hardware surveys are a great starting point to assess pc consumers which is shockingly geared pretty low. What ever they do i hope they support an code api that gives the best out of someones hardware i hope.
  • no doubt utilize the coding that supports best use, its just using code thats already out of date only to be another 2 years behind upon launch just doesnt seem feasible for longevity.
