I still would like to see labor camps in AoC.

This idea is mainly from the time I played in SWG. Before you shoot this post down, again I will say it's an idea. So it's not something that is planned to be in the game. Put this one as a wish list item only, and I am hoping it's added at some point down the line.

Labor camps would fall under the gather system, so it would be for lumber, mining and floral type stuff.

1. You gain access to this option after gaining say level 10 at your profession of choice. Until then you have to work the areas by hand, before you get the labor camps.

2. Once you have the option, you have to survey the area, to max out the best place to setup the camp. Too low, you don't get the most you can for the drop.

3. Once you set the area up, you have to make sure it's well supplied and stocked, it must match the number of hired NPCs you have working the site.  Your site will never be bigger than a stage 1 Expedition node.

4. You have to setup your supply line from your work camp, to the warehouse on your freehold, or in the town your a member of. This also means providing the need guard level for this convoy.

5. The work camp caravan will be a chain of pack mules, pack horse, or simple wagons with escorts.

Now I will add your labor camps would be open to attacks, along with your caravans. So you would need to make sure you fund it to the right levels to keep your resources safe.

Also, once the area is tapped out, your labor camp with shut down, if your supply bins are full, the camp stops work and shuts down. If you camp is attacked and the guards fail to protect it, the camp shuts down.

If you don't want to use the camps, you can still work like you would on your own, but if you need to fill mass orders, then the camps would help to fill the orders as needed.

The level of the camps used, will be tied to the level of your skill in the profession. The camps will not give you xp, you still have to do it on your own, the camps are only there to help you gain the needed resources to fill your orders to other players.

I think this will work, if we have a system like I seen in SWG, without the high tech scanners of course, and just using sample the area type of skill in your profession. You need to find rare items, we can just do a sample of the area, to see if it's even there. Once you setup the camps, it will take everything in the area, that you can find at your level. So you break down will in mining for example would be 30% copper, 20% iron , 10% gold and 40% silver. Lumber would give 40% oak, 30% maple, and 30% elm. Floral would give 20% nightshade, 20% red rose, 40% ragweed, and 20% tree moss.

Again this is a wish list topic, if you have a better idea please post it, but I don't want to hear it's not in the game or they will not do it. Again wish list! So I know it's not part of the plan, just asking for them to make it so. And if someone has a better plan, so be it, I don't care if my idea isn't the one used, just as long as we get something like it. I am good with it.

    Shhhh I don't want to let my workers know they can get paid. On a more serious note I love the idea if I can use skeletons and zombies instead of people, they just moan that im working them to the bone  :D

    I see no reason why if this happens, why we can't skin the camp to look how we want it to be. If you want that undead look with zombies and skeleton why not. lol

  • Hopefully there is no afk resource gathering, ever.
    I like the idea, especially the part where it can be raided. It would have to work like a caravan, in that the raiders would get certificates for all stockpiled resources.
  • As long as NPCs take gold and can be replaced by real players.
    Kind of defeats the object of multiple people doing an activity in a multiplayer game if those people wont actually be players.
    But I do realise other players on your labour camp may not be possible at all times.
    So you need standins or NPCs too.

    At the end of the day NPC or Player should be immaterial.
    Like NPC guards or player guards, if they so choose.
