Summoner classes, just guessing here. =P

Wild Blade: Summons are in the form of weapons that the caster wields.
Brood Warden: Summon a number of minions who have agro+ status on all their attacks
Shadow Mancer: Summon the shadow of the enemy to attack it. (temp) Summon Shadows of yourself to battle alongside you. (Perm until killed or unsummoned)
Beast Master: Summon animals. (Of course)
Spellmancer: Summon orbs (or something like) that cast attack spells while circling the or hovering by the caster.
Conjurer: Original summons of the Summoner have boosted stats or additional abilities.
Necromancer: The realms of death give up what it holds to you allowing you to summon multiple fallen or great monstrocities made from the corpses of the dead.
Enchanter: Summon monsters of musical talents who play or sing delivering buffs to allies and debuffs to enemies.

So place your best guess to what class or classes you want. See how close you get when they come out.

I'd love to have the Shadowmancer summon an AoE Shadow that enhances the damage of a Necromancer's minions.
  • I'm really excited to see a summoner class, but honestly, Final Fantasy did it so exquisitely that its so hard to convince me that summoner is worth playing in any other game.
  • I just really hope for large scale pvp the summoners, grouped at least, can work off of each other or team up to get some really cool cross summons together
  • Grouped summons are a yes.
Of course, we have to wait for implementation to know who cool it will actually be.
  • This class is probably the one I'm most curious about in how it will work.
  • imho, the best class "summoner" I had previously met was in Aion.
I think that you can use the best moments of this class, paying special attention to the tank spirit, and the skill to "roll out" the opponents.

  • Did someone say necromancer?
  • @Jahlon I have to agree with you, well at least 14, 11 especially the early launch version was annoying as the very least... 14 had you taking on aspects and abilities of your ultimate summon Bahamut rather interestingly. I hope it starts out initially as just summoning a specific creature-type and then as your power slowly amasses your character taking on more aspects as the bond strengthens ultimately in you either becoming or merging with your summoned creature (see Pathfinder's Eidolon abilities) into a being of incredible power... but one can only hope seeing as the boss is a fan I have hopes, but then again I'd love nothing better than combining a summoner and an alchemist... of course I will be attempting a reptilian Tulnar Necromancer Alchemist paying homage to the diety in charge of death here to try my best at making a dracolich *madness-tinged laughing ensues*

Yea, XI summoner was great... I just disliked the constant magic drain for keeping one out.
