How important is the soundtrack of AoC?

edited June 2018 in Ashes of Creation Design
Here comes my next question about important elements in ashes of creation, I was very pleased to hear the diffrent views of the customisation of AOC from the community in the month old post :)

This is also in hope to make the developers notice our thoughts/wishes for the final game.
But how important is soundtrack/music in an mmo for you guys?
Feel free to link themes or give examples of good soundtracks from MMO's

Please rate between 1-10 how important Soundtrack/music and motivate.

For me personaly soundtracks are among the most important things in an mmo world and I find myself replaying scenarios just so I can re-hear/re-live that moment of my favorite themes.

Here are a few examples and highlights of themes I enjoy from mmo's

Starting off with FF14 (say what you want of the game but Nobuo Uematsu has talent in the musical art)

1 Nidhogs theme:

Highlighted moments in the song: 2:10 and 3:35

Rappelz is an old (not so good) mmo, but it had some good music for its time.
2 Rappelz Opening theme:

Highlighted moments in the song: 1:05

You knew WoW would be included here somewhere, im no fan of the game anymore but its lore and the way they tell it strikes right into your very soul. This song is to me one of the best sountracks ever in a game.
3 Arthas My Son:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=86f_U_q4SFg

Highlighted moments in the song: The entire song (but I have to say 1:25 always gives me the chills)

One more FF14 song to the list, this makes me imagine an army gathering in a field slowly marching to the battle. :)
4 Stone and Steel:

Highlighted moments in the song: The start

Last song on my list is from Guild wars 2
5 The Charr Triumphant:

No Highlight

Thanks for reading :)<3 Please share some soundtracks

  • You know Bear McCreary was announced as doing the soundtrack for Ashes months ago, right? They have the music side of things well in hand with that news.

And ofcourse guild wars as my friend mentioned.

  • It may be as dead as me but good god Warhammer online had some of the best battle soundtracks actually most of warhammer games have great battle soundtracks

  • Great music is a huge part of the immersive experience for an online game.

It's gotta be really, really good.
  • Music is one of the most important parts of an immersive experience in my opinion. Next to that is the details of the world.
  • I may be in the minority with this, but I rate a games soundtrack as even more important than character customization.

The title tune of the game is important - there are still songs from 15 year old games that when I hear bring me right back to the game. However, even more important - to me - is the in game soundtrack.

While hard to do, a dynamic track that is able to crescendo and decrescendo based on the combat status of the player makes all the difference in maintaining immersion in a game than a track that either doesn't match what is happening in game, or that abruptly stops so a different track can start.

It's so important to have a theme song,
I agree 100%, a symbolic main theme for a game can have such impact!

His music is just mindblowing, I love how most of his songs sounds so orchestrion like and yet its full of energy and engaging.

I appreciate the pun and warhammer was a game I sadly never had time to experiance. Thank you for sharing this I wouldnt have known it had such great music otherwise!

I have an example of what I think you mean, but I have no video of gameplay to show it just to two variants of soundtracks that transition between combat and no combat.
