Oh i thought he/she was talking about "bragging-rights" of being the 1st (Guild) to destroy the Legendary-World Boss ... or something like that
If what YOU say is true then ... I'm pretty sure that WON"T happen. And it would be a big problem
And if they do achievements that have numerical value... some damn achievement score unlocks like WoW was suppose to have when it was introduced.
Also, when it comes to world firsts, I'd prefer they be feats of power (something you can link for bragging but has no value itself)
I think there should be a leader board where you can compare your achievements to others. I might have misunderstood the point of account wide achievements in this case though.
I also think that if there has to be rewards outside of recognition on said boards, that those rewards should be special cosmetics or items to display on your freehold or in your house/apartment.
I would be against these types of rewards granting gear, gold, abilities, etc.
An achievement for killing a boss - whether solo, group or raid - could provide a single piece of equipment appropriate for the encounter. This would be a one off reward in addition to the encounters loot table, and would be especially appropriate for any encounter that has a mechanic that takes many attempts to master.
Anything other than that though, I don't see actual items as being appropriate rewards.
I think obtaining the achievement "First World Boss Killed" (for example) should not grant gear, rare resources, or gold.
Yes... trophies to mount on your wall... yesssssss. I miss Lotro
I wouldn't be opposed to achievements or achievement scores unlocking cash shop currency (embers). I think that would be a greatly rewarding system that would get people out and about and engaging in activities. It would have the bonus of allowing people a choice over their reward. Some thematic achievements should have static, themed rewards; but the generic achievements should give you Embers. Not every achievement would give them but the bigger or more difficult ones could.
