Kill Count

I was wondering, since item are planned to be traded around by people more, and theres many people worried about PK'ing, would it be possible to have a kill count on weapons, whether that's PVP and PK count or just PK count. People who do not like PVP/PK they could avoid buying ''dirty'' weapons that have killed (PK'ed) people. This would be another deterrent to reduce pointless player kills if weapon having innocent blood on would reduce value. Obviously there will be people who won't mind it or even value such weapons more but it's sort of a tool for people who consider it negative behavior.

  • See I like that but from a lore perspective. say I have a tome and for every life I take a new name is written in my book. after so many names have been added the item becomes cursed which may increase some stats but drastically lowers other. This shows your power but the blood of your victims haunt you.
  • I could be an interesting mechanic if weapons themselves could gain corruption.

I wouldn't expect it, but it would be interesting.
  • A weapon changing it's nature would be nice, so not common swords but lets say you have some holy sword, kill a lot of innocent players (corruption) and it becomes a cursed sword.

soul caliber and soul edge come to mind

Ah yeah that would be a good example of what I mean :3
  • Honestly i'd rather a cursed weapon being absolute trash but with huge scaling for every kill. Something that gets stronger with every kill. < I know that they don't want to enhance PK benefits so maybe only a pvp thing?

Something that comes to mind is Zabusa's sword from Naruto. His sword can't be damaged in anyway because everytime it cuts someone, it uses the iron in the blood of the person to repair itself. So maybe we could get a mediocre weapon that never loses durability but also not the most ideal weapon to use stat wise.
  • Woudln't that just make the weapon obselete ? I mean if it isn't that good and has no way to upgrade then even infinite durability wouldn't make it great since repair kits have to be a thing no ? :3
  • It would be fun to see also the other way around.
Cursed weapons with enhanced stats, but generating corruption for its user >:) This would have to be a big penalty of course, but some kind of "last hope solution" for desperate scenarios in war! (just like using the ring in... you know)

The chances of this are really low since the corruption is a punishment system, no carrot only stick.

Reminds me a little bit of the Ritual Dagger card in Slay the Spire.
  • There is already a 'corruption' system in place that negatively impacts players who go around killing non-combatants (including reducing the combat effectiveness of mass-murderers that scales with the number of victims). This will provide greater disincentive for would-be murderers than simply reducing the value of their weapon.

After all, a mass-murderer could simply pick up a cheap sword before hunting down low-level players. The decreasing value of an already-worthless sword wouldn't even be an afterthought.

I do like the lore potential for making infamous swords that raked up 'x' kills in the hands of the legendary murderer (insert-name here) - with certain limitations on the kill count to keep them from getting ridiculous.
