  • If history says anything then their servers and customer service will be troublesome. Let alone their security, which hopefully has gotten better with all the breeches they have experienced.

    As I've said in other threads regarding this subject I'll have to wait to see the details of how it plays out. If My.com is only housing infrastructure and servers. EU will be okay as intrepid has already got their own specific servers for the contract that they have bought for My.com to simply run the electricity too, and keep basic upkeep of them.

    Now for EU customer support, this is a huge deal as my.com has a infamous track record of poor service for EU players.

    However this is true due to the nature of the games they were providing for, and the inherent bitterness of P2w games and how customers tend to act and (in turn) percieve actions.

    Obviously not in all cases, but definitely some. As for data leaks, account info, and bans. These are all mid level Manager issues and is my.com's responsibility to fix, will partnering with Intrepid help spur that fix? That remains to be seen.

    My advice, voice your concerns, let Stephen explain the details. Research a bit more before grabbing your pitch forks. A calm analytical approach will yield a far more productive result. And better developer response as well
  • Taking the record of my.com into Account i do not believe that they can handle that.  I mean how can anybody ask for trust if he spends only 1 hour of research into how my.com handle things.

    The real tragedy here is that Steven assured people when asked in 2017 that AoC will be self-published and then choose the worst publisher he could find in Europe. It seems they have to learn it the hard way after release.

    I asked for a refund of my Pax Package from 2017 because I feel betrayed, to be honest. The request got denied today because they only grant refunds to people after 30 days. That´s how AoC values their community.  First telling people one thing and if they buy it, they go into the exact opposite direction and denying them a way out.

    something
    well said, i absolutely agree

    though, i voted right on start lol, now that ive seen stevens will to handle the situation properly id change to undecided *facepalm*
  • No. Historically garbage company.
  • After researching MyCom, MailRu, and GDPR the answer is "Yes, but only because...";

    The GDPR rules make it prohibitively expensive for a small company to self-publish in the EU - Even small missteps can add up to millions of dollars in fines.

    And there are regulations such as this;
    "Organizations based outside the EU must also appoint an EU-based person as a representative and point of contact for their GDPR obligations (Article 27). This is a distinct role from a DPO (Data Protection Officer), although there is overlap in responsibilities that suggest that this role can also be held by the designated DPO."

    The GDPR is great at a few things but terrible at others - Good at protecting on-line rights and data but effectively leaving it in just the few hands that have the quite vast financial backing both to set up the infrastructure as well as handle the legal aspects.

    The "EU" wanted stringent controls and this is the result - Large corporations in control of your data.

    "Beware of what you wish for, you just might get it."

  • I think its a bad move but only time will tell. I wont be playing on EU but I do not want to see my.com handling this game for EU. They cant not be trusted skyforge proved that. I hope it does not end up bad but I do not have any faith in my.com.
  • I don't play shitty p2w Asian games so I have no idea what my.com is like.
  • Its not completely impossible for soulless greedy companies to provide a good service, especially with strict regulations and contracts holding them to some kind of standards. They will handle it or get the boot, which one is what I am undecided about.

    Yes, i believe they have some reason/s why they choose My.com. Yes i believe it is very scamy to say: we will publish the game at our own and then give it to worst publisher i ever saw.

    No, i do not believe My.com will handle this game simply because i do not believe My.com.

    On the one hand I believe Steven when he says my.com were the only ones meeting certain criteria.
    I do have, like most of us, no insight on this decision.

    But i ask myself if Interepid seriously tested if my.com can deliver the promised "features". Or if they only have a contract that says "my.com will deliver this and that and a pink unicorn"
    Because if my.com can not deliver what they promise the players are the ones on the short end. Intrepide my file a lawsuit in worst case, but this does not help me as player, if the service is not available.
