Animal Husbandry - How long does it take to make a baby?
I was thinking about the animal husbandry thing today and I was wondering how long it takes to have a baby. Does it happen instantly when we match the animals up or can it take weeks or month? What if the two animals don't want... each other? Like a giraffe and a camel. Their first instinct might not be to have a baby right away. Are there some things that won't pair up so we're waiting forever for something that won't happen? Will there be animal love potions to speed up the process? Maybe fertility cakes they can eat? Speaking of eating. Do the animals eat? Will we need to feed them hay and stuff everyday until we sell them? Will animals come in 3 stages like the armor? Say, baby, teen, and adult. So you can have a baby Griffin, teen Griffin, and adult Griffin? So many questions. Will animal poo be used by farmers as fertilizer so some animals have better poop than others? Like, Magical Unicorn Poop makes Rainbow Corn grow or something? Also, will there be Unicorns? I'm sure that will be the most hard to breed and sought after animal. I predict Pegasus, Narwhal, and Whales with Feet, will also be popular. Maybe not whales with feet, but I want one for me.

Most of the time these things are sped up to unbelievable levels so the players can see the fruits of their labor.
My guess would be several days, so maybe an hour or two rl.
Hopefully your husbandry skill grants you the ability to convince more and more creatures to do more and more things with other creatures they wouldn't be naturally inclined to do. The higher your skill, the greater your chance of making an abomination.
My personal preference would lean on the side of being fun and useful, rather than being realistic. Even 9 weeks to birth a calf is still pushing the boundaries of what I'd consider to be tolerable.
