Opinion about Beta2

This is just an opinion and targeted at the decision makers at Intrepid.

As we all know towards release there will be a time when you will want to be at the peak of the hype. At that point you will reach out aggressively to everyone with marketing. This will be a gradual process and it will be part of the Beta goals as I understand it. Given the community we like to know the game a bit before committing to it.

We also know that the Alpha program will eventually become the test server in live. Therefore Beta is more about community building.

Paying for Beta 1 150$ or Beta 2 75$ makes less sense to me. I will gladly pay some money to back you now - but seeing that Beta access by phase is conditional by pay turns me personally off.

Just my 2cp - allow people to back you 50$ and add them to your Beta list as fans, fist come fist in, with 1 month game time. But don't play with Beta phases (1, 2, etc.) as a monetary source. Beta in my eyes is when you want everyone in, whether they have only 15$ to pay monthly or 50$ to back you just because they can. My friendly and free marketing advice.

  • My friendly and free marketing advice.
Little teasing, personal opinion I wouldn’t back anything that you don’t believe in or  don’t care if they succeed. I am ecstatic  and confident in the no paid to win. That’s why I dropped my dime. A little skeptical about my.com from my own bad experiences. Hoping and praying EU  community is done right 🤞🏻
  • So everyone who paid the full price in the Kickstarter will have lost money? I dont see the point you either want to pay to suport the game or play when it comes out.
  • Whoever pays to get just alpha/beta access and play the game sooner really should have their money taken away from them, it's supporting the game and the KS and Summer backers wouldn't be happy with something like this.

I am always hesitant to tell people how to spend their money. If someone wants to pay just to get early access to a game I have no problem with it.

I agree but if they will bitch and moan about it because the game is 'buggy' then they might as well stay away because once it finally releases they might be 'fed up' with it.

    Fair point.
  • I'm not sure why the dollar amount chosen in the OP was $50. I mean if you are going to do a Beta on first come first serve basis why not start at the $1 donation level?

I mean we all want Beta access for a variety of reasons, but those that believe in Ashes and was willing to put money into Ashes will be the ones rewarded. I see this as fair, I am sorry if others do not.
  • I'll likely be paying for early access at some point both to help fund this and also because I'm good at finding broken things/broken things are drawn to me so I'll be a good help in bug discovery lol.

Let's avoid calling it "early access". I feel like that carries connotations with it that people will infer it's some sort of soft launch. We will no doubt get various "Will there be a wipe???" posts as it is.

I think the beta costs are fine, and as others have said. It keeps everything in line with what others have already spent in the earlier crowdfunding. To offer a better deal at this point would be a slap in the face.

Moreover, getting beta access even with a server wipe is still an advantage. Getting a hang of the game mechanics, buggy and unofficial they may be, still puts you ahead of the skill curve going forward.

Early access is that shit you get on steam where people complain how the game is buggy not even realizing that it is not fully released, the alphas and betas are testing phases and your progress will be reset come release day, so it ain't no early access :/
