How will devs prevent the game from becoming a walking simulator?

Recently heard about this game and so far everything about it sounds awesome. A little too awesome in fact, that I start to worry if this will be as good as it seems.

What will the creators do to make sure there is a lot of fun things to do, including quests and objectives to prevent this game from becoming the next No Man's Sky?

  • If IS guys manage to deliver at least half of what you can dig at current AoC wiki, this shall already be on par with all the AAA MMO's out there. Personally, I love everything about it - ZOI makes sure you are not just completing mundane tasks (analogue to hearts in GW2) for no reason. Two different player modes are there to deliver the experience you want (WoW managed to implement Warmode recently, in 2018), with corrupted guys prowling around. Non-instanced dungeons and raids offer a room for player shenanigans, sieges, PvP and and and ...To be honest there's place for everything, Imho. Just need to figure the route you want to take and well ... play the game.

    That is the case for legendary, extremely rare drops. This is to keep flying down to the 0.001% intended. As it stands right now the only people with true flight will be 5 metropolis mayors when a server has reached that point, and the 5 pvp castle objective owners. They do not keep their mount when they lose control of their castle or are removed from office. The egg drop mounts will have the same restrictions on them. They will be limited time of 2-4 weeks and have all the restrictions the castle/metro mounts have. Like only being able to be mounted from a legendary stable. This is to keep true flying mount glut from occurring and over the course of a couple years, hundreds of people subverting the mechanic they have in place to make flying mounts truly a legendary achievement. Regular mounts will NOT suffer from permadeath.

    ^^...and regular gliding mounts will not bypass the world.

    Anyway, I am sure if I wear blinkers and ear plugs while walking across a battlefield, the world will indeed seem to be a very very boring place with nothing happening.
