RNG gearing sucks

Do not overdo RNG for gearing. People want to feel rewarded for their effort, not luck. Some RNG is fine, like rare drops from bosses or treasure for example but not too much. Do not make stats on gear a diablo slot machine. Do not make 100% of all gearpieces pure randomly dropped.

The happiness people feel when they finaly get that slotmachine casino sword does not outweight the frustration people feel when they never get a good item.

  • Especially in korean MMOs, RNG is the deciding factor for loot drops, sometimes crafting and mostly for upgrading gear (anything from improvements to random stats, and even loss of gear. For example in Archeage, you may invest enormous sums - and may end up with nothing if the dices roll against you).
I absolutely hate when luck plays a role - I wish for total control of results; make it difficult all you like, but please make it predictable. Only then I'll get the positive feeling of achievement, not just pure frustration.
  • The most valued gear is found in games in which gear is crafted after devoting time to get it done.
Gear can be looted from normal mobs in very rare occasions and causes celebrations when that happens.

Open world raid bosses that have a chance of dropping gear is an awsome activity that involves PvE and PvP.

Games like eso in which you farm a 25 min PvE dungeon 20 times so that you can get that Demonic:
    Bow Powered
    Bow Precise
    Bow Sharpened     !!!!BINGO!!!!
    Bow Infused
    Bow Defending
    are stupid.
    Next dungeon... Draconic:
    Gloves Divines
    Gloves Sturdy
    Gloves Impenetrable    !!!!BINGO!!!!!
    Gloves Well-Fitted
    Gloves Infused
    Gloves Invigorating

When it comes to enchanting, I find that games like BDO in which you get a weapon and you need to make it weapon +16
think that we are stupid. Nobody cares for such time sink except for gamblers (who should seek help)

I much rather games in which enchanting gear is hard but not necessary.
    Max enchant is +6
    +3 is safe
A player with +0 can kill a player with +++
    Nothing game breaking.
Why bother enchanting then? Good players can put the edge to work for their advantage.

    RNG in gathering/looting materials?
I hate RNG when it comes to farming.
I rather need 50 units of Iron if that means I am rdy for the craft, rather than needing 15 units but with RNG farming.
Obviously the higher the item level the more material.

  • Honestly, I would prefer a system like Guild Wars 2, or not so far from it. In a game where PVP is an important feature, it is nice to be able to be competitive even if you are a casual player.
RNG like in Black Desert Online is just a waste of time.
  • I've never really enjoyed RNG but I also know it has it's place. I'd much prefer a time sink into something than hoping it drops on random but I have more time to play than others. I've never fully experienced the satisfaction of earning something in modern MMOs.. the last thing I can remember that I felt rewarded with was hunting, logging times, camping, tagging and killing serket to make the scorpion harness in ffxi.
  • Id like to see a Predictable crafting mechanic.  Personally. I 100% do NOT mind the ArcheAge crafting.  1/4 roll, 1/4 roll, 1/4 roll into a final 1/4 roll.  I dont mind that whatsoever for the BiS gear.  However, stay away from the regrading.  20% success into a 15% into a 12 % into a 8% while each try is ~4-5 hours of work for the average player.  Youre talking about RNG that takes a month of farming+ for an epic sword in archeage.  100% avoid this.   But The idea of a higher level weaponsmith crafting the 4 different types of sword  (Crit, Mage, raw power, and tanky) at random.  Even if once 'opened' it stays that sword type forever.  ie, Tier 1 crit sword, will stay a crit sword all thru tier 5.  So a smith needs to make a Tier 1 crit sword in order to upgrade to a tier 5.  Im ok with that.

TLDR  Keep crafting systems of old, drop the RNG 'Regrading'
  • Too much RNG makes the game into a grind fest, while some games like Warframe are made that way on purpose and do it right others just want you to spend money to get shit faster or get it at all....
  • RNG ruined Black Desert Online. It's long term effect was player retention. It was a great system if not for the RNG. That and they never introduce new gear. Most of the community has been rocking the same gear for like 3 years (with some exceptions).

Reward versus effort. The game has to be built around it or you will fail.

I feel you brother! Just quit wow for the 7th time. This loot system they introduced w/ war-forging is full of feelsbad. I don't mind a bit of RNG here and there, in fact many games are quite successful with it. However there are only so many "rings of sadness" a player can take.
  • I enjoy killing a boss or doing a dungeon and not really knowing what will drop. Thats the type of RNG I like. things like token systems like what FFXIV uses kind of kills it for me. I don't want to collect X amount of something to turn in at a vendor for a piece of gear.
  • I always enjoyed knowing "If I kill this boss he drops X,Y,or Z" I wouldn't want to go into a dungeon and have "This boss has a chance of droping X, Y, or Z... but they also have 100 other unimportant items in their loot table that could drop" I think if they kept it simple, for example.. Boss drops a chest with X stats, but then incorporated crafting into it so you could take that chest to a master smith and have them re-roll the stats for a price. That would be better than having 100 of the same chest with various stats and having to farm that boss over and over to get the stats you want.
