Castle Owners
Please do not give guilds that own a castle or territory a gear/income advantage, games where castle sieging was a thing, you would have a a few handful of strong guilds that would just dominate and control territories and never attack each other, pretty much monopolizing the game. Also they would just get too strong, because of the income they would receive from holding the territory. So please do not give guilds that hold territories an advantage.

Your concern has already been addressed by Intrepid though. The castle owners aren't going to get a castle and then just freely hold it. They are going to have to work at it each week.
The three sub-nodes needs to be built up each cycle. That means grinding for XP and transporting goods via caravans. That generates content.
They also have to be able to hold the castle.
Guilds are 300 people. Castle sieges are 500 vs 500 (tentatively from Steven At Pax)
Servers are set up to be 8,000 - 10,000 concurrent people.
So if 1500 people hold all 5 castles, and the other 6,500 people on a server can't get together to take one castle away, well then your server should be renamed Farmville
