A question about game testing and battlegrounds

So after watching some  videos and reading up on some things about this game I am a bit confused. Mainly about  what  you have to do to qualify to test the game..

Now i know there are patreon backers who can test the game and i know you can buy your way into certain alphas and betas of  the game with certain packages. I intend to buy one of those but probably not until its a bit closer to the time of that certain alpha or beta test...

What has me confused is the text they use with some things, and also what others have said.. Things like " Alpha-1 testers will test each  arena mode  for a  month  before it is  released to all registered users" and " The alpha-1 battlegrounds game mode will be released as a bonus  to the  community in october 2018 "...

Who are all registered users? Registered to test the game via a package or patreon backing? Or registered on this website? And BGS will be released to the community? Like any of us will be able to download the game client and try it in october?

I would really appreciate any insight into this. Ive been trying to find some solid information but it all seems a bit vague. Maybe im just not looking in the right places.

  • The various testing phases can be confusing to someone who hasn't been around for their evolution. Right now we are in A1P1 which is action combat testing. This will run for a month or so for the people that have that level of access in their packages. After it has run for a month, the Battle Royale portion of the test will be opened up to all registered users of this website. Around 500k accounts have been made as of last information. After a time period determined by Intrepid that access will be shut down and the next phase of A1P1 will start for those that paid. The earliest testing package available right now is access to A2 which starts estimated Summer 2019 or early fall. Hope this helps.

Yes this does help. Its not really as much of not knowing the phases as it is not  being able to find information. You would think that battlegrounds being opened up to the public would be some pretty big news, but i really couldnt find much about it..

Especially considering how much the packages cost to test the game at this current phase..  But to be fair i might have been searching with battle royale instead of battlegrounds so that probably played some part in it...

Also, from what the page said it seems we might even be getting to test other arena modes in the future maybe? A month after the alpha testers get to do it. Regardless  this should be great..

And one more question if you dont mind... Do you know if they will put a download link for the client when the  time  comes? Im guessing it will be posted on the website or  forums. Defiantly dont want to miss it though. Should be awesome until I can buy a package for one of the future tests. Thanks again.
  • Yes, I imagine there will be a download link and a way to get credentials (username/password) when the time comes. I can't imagine that they will generate half a million emails and send them out to the accounts that don't have paid access. More likely will be for those that bother to look and to know. Since A1P1 won't be under NDA in a bit, the word should spread once the many, many streamers get hold of it.
  • Figured id re post here instead of making a new thread. So did they ever end up opening this up to the public or did it get delayed? @UnknownSystemError or anyone if you know thanks. Its been a couple months so im curious if i missed it or if its been delayed..

I checked my email but haven't seen anything.

They said they would have the Apocalypse testing open for everyone by now, unless they ran into snags. They ran into snags. It will come as soon as it is ready. Not much more about open to all testing news beyond that. There is a livestream scheduled for sometime this week (date not set as of this writing), so maybe more information there.
  • The live stream will be on Wednesday 5th at 3 pm pst. So there may be some information forthcoming during the stream.
  • @Varkun @UnknownSystemError alright thanks a lot for the info. Im not worried about waiting on stuff for the most part. Whatever makes the game better..
  • I was sent the email for the launcher but never got the game download which sucks. Felt like I got trolled hard lol. Excited to play and was only able to download a launcher with no game lol.

That's because you were testing.  Alphas are not about getting to play; your failure was part of helping Intrepid with their systems.
