To lich or not to lich that is the question
So as you know the new undead items are out today and of course, I bought them, but I found something interesting. When I was looking at the items, I saw this.
"Phylactery of the Scarlet Lich
"Phylactery of the Scarlet Lich
One of many phylacteries to keep the Scarlet Lich's reign of terror going."
Now I have a few things I need to ask about this item and ashes lore. The first and foremost (at least to me) is who is the scarlet lich and is this one of the antagonists of the game? The second one is this is it possible to find other pieces of this lichs gear in tombs and make a legendary set.
I would really like to hear your ideas on this as I have my own but I'm interested to see what you think

When the gates of verra closed during the great calamity some of the best mages where left behind. Some of them went underground and became part of the tulnar. Others chose the option of immortality by trapping their souls in pylacterys. Over the centuries these mages became the most powerful liches verra has ever seen. Also they had a lot of time gathring an army of undead servants and building themselves nice little castles/towers/dungeons.
Scarlet Lich is just one of Circle of Liches. And each lich has its own gear set which can be obtained in their castles/towers/dungeons.
If a certain Node advances to Metropolis the Liches will work together and will send the most powerful undead Army against this metropolis. You can only stop this ongoing assault by defeating every lich in verra.
and even the world has the same thing
@nagash because this picture was used in dillas diary i kind of believe that these corrupted sphere may be some kind of vessel.
I mean in dillas diary bright lights in the sky appear and the story ends with this Picture.
It could be a Vessel for a Lich. Maybe send from a god or maybe from somewhere else. Maybe not even a real Lich. Just some creature where the word Lich is the most fitting description.
Dillas diary mentioned 16 lights. So maybe there are 16 of these liches present on verra?
Or after the liches took over Verra they began to fight each other until only one of them remained: Scarlet Lich.
Step 2: find all items of power
Step 3: rule over all other players
I see what you're doing Nagash!
a small leather box containing Hebrew texts on vellum, worn by Jewish men at morning prayer as a reminder to keep the law.
See the box on his head? It's there to remind him to pray. Now thinking about all the other items that were released, (Video comes out tomorrow) They all have death name's like Death's Hand, Death's Bastion etc.. Add 2+2 together and the Scarlet Lich is the god of Death. Who else would you pray to except a god? Can't pray to Bob. Bob's just a dude.
Now, let's speculate. We get religious nodes at level 3, and the activities in the node determine the type of node. Military node gets Temple of the Scarlet Lich at level 3?
If the nodes get temples, maybe the temple is dedicated to the type of node activity. Religious, Economic, Scientific, Military. One god for each. God of Love, god of money, god of science, god of death. God of Science?
A magic phylactery was used to store the souls and life force of liches. A mage had to create such a phylactery in order to become a lich, a highly expensive and taxing effort. Typically, a phylactery was a sealed metal box containing strips of parchment on which arcane phrases were inscribed. However, a phylactery could be any number of things, such as a ring or amulet.
If its physical body was destroyed, a lich could regenerate where its phylactery was located over a matter of days. However, if the phylactery itself was destroyed, then the lich could not regenerate and would remained destroyed. For this reason, liches sought to guard their phylacteries powerfully against any attack.
Hey wait! I just remembered. I had to look up another word. Bastion.
A projecting part of a fortification built at an angle to the line of a wall, so as to allow defensive fire in several directions.
So the building Steven didn't want to tell us what it was is a vault where you keep your phylactery. ( Grammar. Ain't got none)
Could it be Dilla's mother?
I might be a son of a lich though.
So a possible lore piece for the Monster battle coming down the road in APOC could be that the "red lich" sent the horde of beasts to take out humanity.
Potentially he could be revived down the road as a villian but off the bat I figure we will be more or less starting by flying by the seat of our pants like a real DnD game if the dungeon master doesn't give you back story beyond a starting location.
One of many phylacteries to keep the Scarlet Lich's reign of terror going. see its in the present tense and not in past tense. it may just be me looking too deep into this but it seems like its still going on.
