How happy/satisfied are you with AoC progress and Intrepid Studios so far?

We have come a long way already. So far, in my opinion, this is one of the most promising communities I have seen. The support is insane.

How happy are you with our current progress, the phase we are going in and intrepid in general?

Oh, if possible, also try to explain why in a short sentence or more to help IS out a bit! Especially on the negatives!

  • Sad that I've had 3 invitations to test this game and all 3 times, the launcher has failed to let me in game.

Have you tried to Contact support and describe your issue?
  • I would be happier if they had more awareness for time zones outside of the US

Build a bridge and get over it then.

    I like that line ^^
  • I am sure things are progressing well but would love to see more assets related to the MMO side of things like 3d character models for all of the races.
  • I'm happy with it so far in terms of how they're moving along. They're hitting everything as scheduled which typically doesn't happen. I'm skeptical if they'll hit the siege mode in December though. With Christmas and New Years they're really only giving themselves 3 1/2 weeks of time to role it out. I will be ok even with them saying by the 3rd week that the siege mode is ready to test but they're going to push it to the first week of January in order to get more people. But so far I'm happy with the progress they've made and so long as Apocalypse stays this testing mode and not a full fledge game they're updating for itself and not the MMORPG. I'll stay happy.

I love their ideas for the game and I think they have done a good job at being transparent. However, it is a little bit worrisome to see some of the character animations - which imo look pretty horrible. Especially the walking ones. Also, it gets a bit annoying when their servers are so broken you have to wait hours to get the launcher to work, and when it finally does, the game is laggy as hell. I thought we were supposed to test the action combat, not the servers. I also wonder why they're pushing for the cosmetic store so hard. To end on a positive note though, I do like how they keep updating us with livestreams and that dungeon design they showed off looked pretty impressive.
  • They seem to be pushing themselves pretty hard when I think they could take their time on some aspects.  One thing that bothers me is the female model looks a little off around the pelvic area, like maybe her hip bones are either too high or low (I can't remember which right now).  I just want them to take the time they need to get things done right.  Love you Ashes team!

I'm not sure how we are to rank our happiness/satisfaction with IS's Alpha content.
So, as for an explanation to my vote, I am happy with how far the game has come from pre-Alpha tests to Alpha tests.

EDIT: Also, I am aware that servers will be an ongoing test and there has been no promise of a persistent alpha prior to the actual persistent alpha. Stress test are needed, and as we are (mostly) all 'testers' I'm not sure why server errors would be an issue to anyone that is in the  Alpha-Stress-Test.
  • My enthusiasm is maybe already a known value.

Siege Mode is already in closed tests. It isn't too much of a stretch to open sieges up to more testers within 3 weeks.
  • With experience of other Alphas i feel that progress is solid. While there are certain things i cannot wait to see it is important we get the MMO Spine right and the team are putting a lot of work into the Spine (Backend Systems, Front End Systems and the Support systems) which will make for a smoother ride overall. I have no qualms about the current situation and am pleased they are able to bring more testers in to push the performance edges further.
  • For the most part I'm happy with how things are going.  I could do without the BR testing phases, but that's the only real complaint I have, and I understand why they went that direction for testing.  Though I think they would have less trouble getting testers to actually test if they went with the Castle sieges or Horde mode testing first.

I'm happy with the progress. I'll be delighted when we get to the second part of alpha.
  • I already have sandals from AoC. lol
  • My expectations were waaay too high.
I got knocked down from that cloud.
  • I just like being Different
  • I think the game loses more and more focus every day. Promised tab targeting not this hot mess. Battle royal is another failing. Making a open world PvP game that devides its player base between battle royal, battle grounds and open world will just water down what should be the main focus. They need to pick a direction and decide what kind of game they want to make and stop trying to run in 10 different directions at the same time. If I could get my money back at this point I would be happy.

Im sticking my head once in a while to see whats going on but every time I do, its not good. Most of my friends that backed then game are in the same boat as I am. Wondering why this game is walking farther and father from the goals originally painted/described to us? My wife and I are backing from the first round and planed to backing farther but thats not going to happen in the current state. Sorry to say =-\
  • We were promised a combination of tab and action combat.  These early testing phases are to test specifically the action combat, and a BR as much as I hate them do that fairly well.  The hybrid system with tab combat will come around 2nd quarter of 2019 when they start the second phase of alpha 1 and test more MMO functionality.
  • I think this thing is actually going to happen within a reasonable time period and be reasonably close to the developer's vision.
  • I would vote happy if the testing times were at a reasonable time for Europeans.

    well said
  • I an the only neutral vote so far. Reasoning is easy. While i think from design perspective they have nailed it the question becomes how does this play out.

    UpSide

I mean on the one hand it could be allot of fun working with a community to build and defend your city. Game looks good so far and there seems to be interest from the management in creating long term players for ongoing benefits.

Bots(which are allowed and called multi-boxing)
You can hack down automated players when you find them farming resources to sell for RL cash on some website somewhere.(also no f2p option limits the number of multiboxers bot lords)

    No-Cash Shop

Most importantly its not another Asian half baked cash shop run mmo.

No F2P this means that cheating and getting banned will cost you. Also increases the overhead for gold / resource farming and risk for automated game play.

    Downside

Bots(which are allowed and called multi-boxing)

Lets be realistic here no one pays for several account with out some extra benefit to having them. I dont know if that will be automated game play, vote stacking a node or DAOC's buff bots or what ever that advantage is this is a pay to win system advantage.

Exploits, Radar, Speed Hacking and all other manner of packet sniffing.

If you have players you will have players who try and usually cheating somehow.  Add in pvp and the rate in which are attempting to cheat happens goes way way up.  Doesn't matter if your talking about cheating the karma system to go full gankster or duplicating items or using radar to find resources or other players its going to happen just a matter of when and if they can catch it and how they handle that.

So in the end i think no judgments can be made at this time other then from an ideological standpoint, where Intrepid is on the right track. Now how that shakes out when you add players in the mix remains to be seen.
  • I'm happy. I would like to see more in the way of official lore and backstory.
  • Communication is definitely a point for improvement but hopefully the new Community Manager will help to make up this shortfall.
  • My opinion is, It's alpha.  No real way to tell anything yet.

  • I am neutral simply because while I have as of yet been unable to participate in testing due to a serious of bugs, crashes, et cetera, I also see that many others are enjoying the game thus far. I also am not a big fan of the PUBG game mode, but luckily... I haven't been able to play any of it! As long as the final product isn't merely a copy pasta'd battleground game, I'll be happy--hopefully! Just wish I could actually get my launcher to work so I could test as well. /8
