    I think it's an okay idea for a location to partly visit and relax while the living scream in agony and the undead mourn the streets..torturing the living pale creature who were unlucky to crawl towards my plain.

    I think a nice rifted canyon with some hills, poisonous swamps and burned woods would be great. On a higher point placing the me necropolis for my evil doings

    Underground would be pretty amazing, but based on my custom freehold I am going to prefer it to be near a body of water or near/on a mountain.

    Other than the "underground" bit I'm all in with you.

    Next to a mine that uses an expanding node system to allow for the mine to expand would be ideal.

    there's no way to get to it if there was. Since there's no easy flying mounts. only a very very limited handful at most.

    Maybe there would be some sort of magical elevator (a platform with levitating runes that only allow it to go up or down).

    maybe part of the siege is that you have to wipe out the crystals holding the city in the air and only then can you attack it

    They could make a flying island and then a ground based tether crystal, and when you smash that you destroy the freehold xD
