I am piggy backing off of the Dynamic Combat System post (https://forums.ashesofcreation.com/discussion/42398/ue4-dynamic-combat-system#latest) by @ninfosho and wanted to share this Unreal Engine 4 Photorealism video and see what y'all thoughts are?

I feel like the problem of the uncanny Valley will occur here, especially in a game that adds supernatural elements to the mix.

I am not familiar with what the uncanny Valley is?

@Simus Its when a computer generated human or human looking robot looks very close to real, but it is still off enough that i creates feelings of everything from slightly weird and off to outright revulsion.

Too much effort is all I can say to it. It's nice for a one off showcase, but making a game where it's an asset to have it would just shoot it's cost into the "never gona happen" category for now.

@Simus This picture is a good example of the Uncanny Valley at work:

The film makers tried too hard to make this character look real that you are distracted by it. As the New York Magazine put it when reviewing the film, "[the character] looks simultaneously too human and not human at all, his face weirdly fetal, his eyes glassy and vacant instead of bursting with animated life."
