Trade runs

Hi folks,

I just wanted to drop a line and a question regarding trade runs. I stumbled upon this game mechanic for the first time in Archeage and have never found something so rewarding and relaxing. I loved the option of the safe home route for lesser reward and the more risky cross continent deliveries.

I've been hunting for a similar game that will look to incorporate this level of farming and trade transport. As a predominantly solo player, I was wondering if the devs still have/still have plans to include this? I've read a few articles on trade runs in AOC from 2017'ish, however anything in 2019 has made it sound like the games moving away from what I was looking for, to a larger caravan / guild escort type trade run?

I would thoroughly appreciate any responses on this as I was really looking forward to blazing the trail to riches again :D

This video is quite recent and might answer some questions. Afaik, you should be able to do solo runs.

Edit: the trade runs is what got my attention as well, in the beginning (saw it in SRO).

The system does seem quite ArcheAge inspired (with nodes instead of trade pack machines for different regions). I don't have the quote to hand but believe Steven did say at one point that you would be able to launch a caravan from a freehold as well, although this could be out-dated information now.

The crafting system itself also seems to rely on moving goods/materials/resources as well so it should certainly tie into the gameplay you're hoping for. But things can of course get changed or tweaked during testing.

Bear in mind the majority of the world will be PVP and the caravan system is set up to be attacked or defended. You will not be guaranteed the relaxing trade runs that you did in Archeage.

  • This is also the primary reason I'm interested in Ashes of Creation, but there's just not enough info about caravans yet to determine if it will be fun in the same way.
