Check your C:\Program Files\Intrepid Studios, Inc\Apocalypse\.patcher\logging directory for a log file that is from today (or wherever you installed APOC to). Look for
    Debug Patcher.PatcherAPI.GetStatus was called
    Debug Patcher.PatcherAPI.UpdateStatus isRunning:True upToDate:False hasPendingTasks:False downloaded:0 totalDownload:0 changesApplied:0 totalChanges:0

If you see that looped many times, you probably just need to restart your client and try to patch again. I'm testing that now.

Update: It works! You may need to restart the client several times. Try running in Administrator mode as well.

Run the client as administrator. To fix without manually running as admin every time you launch the game:

1: Right click your desktop icon> Open File Location (or manually go to C:\Program Files\Intrepid Studios, Inc\Apocalypse or whatever folder you installed the game to)

2: Right click Launch_Ashes.exe and select Properties > Compatibility

3: Click the box that says 'run this program as administrator'

4: click 'OK' to save your changes.

EDIT:: i just had the forever scanning bug happen again, but i restarted my PC and it started working again. Very strange.

Hey guys, I've been fighting the "scanning files" since yesterday too, and finally I resolved it by... changing DNS settings... (now using cloudflare 1.1.1.1 / google 8.8.8.8 insted of my ISP's). Worth a try if you're in the same position
