my.com does not allow to install on external ssd

So I run my games (regular installs, but also Steam and Origin games) from external SSD. For some reason when I try to install Apocalypse my.com game launcher does not allow to use my external SSD as it does not use nets file format. Other Steam or Origin games run fine from this SSD. Could you help with that? I can't play the game as I do not have free space to spare on my internal SSD.
PS: Please let me know if this can be changed. I'm afraid I'll be left in the dust when MMO comes (I care far more about MMO than br). I do not plan to change my gear in foreseeable future.
PPS: My external SSD uses ExFAT file system, running nicely under Windows and MacOS with games.
PPPS after couple of days - I play thanks to installer from Intrepid page. Game feels very nice!
