Those acrobatics though!

Okay seriously guys, who else knew they could jump around like Jesus on crack before the lifestream?
I am gonna be real with you guys here, and say that I thought that the forward lunge was ground bound like the itterations from before.
I had to try it out after they had shown the acrobatics on stream immediately and have to say one thing:
HOLY SMOKES, THIS IS A TON OF FUN!

You can chain three jumps after another, giving the whole experience more depth than you would immagine! Jump right into the second or third floor, skipping the dangerous groundfloors and get to the chests first.

I would think that it could be a cool ability for rogues like the Trickster. Give it a charge system and relatively low cooldown, and you have the perfect class for me. XD

The dead do not squabble as this land’s rulers do. The dead have no desires, petty jealousies or ambitions. A world of the dead is a world at peace

Another thing, i did some experiments: FOR SCIENCE!

You can use the dash to jump down to negate falling damage.
BUT BEWARE! You can only do that from "normal" heights, things like the huge tower are too high after the third layer!

Thats where a really bad bug comes in for me...
I cant use block, horses or gryphons for some reason.
It is neither shown in the menu to rebind it and all normal keybinds are "INVALID"... :')

Found a fix already today xD

I was waiting for the OCE servers to come on line but seems they will only do so when enough people from our region start to login and play, but when they showed the dragon skin today I decided to finally jump in and try to get to level 7. I have to say apoc is way more fun that the first iteration several months ago, the lunge is really fun and allows you to get to places you would normally struggle.

As someone who just is not a BR player its not so bad for a short term AOC fix. Though it did take me 13 games to get my first kill but not too long after that I did actually manage to win a game, and now I manage to get a kill or two each game.

But yes the lunge does add a fun dynamic to things.

Started my 60th game right now, reached lvl 7 only with the help of all quests, legendary and normal...

It is a fairly fun ability but I'm sure it won't be one of the core abilities for all player classes. I wouldn't mind them toning it down a little for the MMO experience as I think it's a bit OP. One jump is fine, the second and third jump need to be locked behind a passive with a longer cool down as well as locked to one class.

In Apoc it's okay because you want a different game experience for players, faster paced and easier to move around but imagine come siege time if all your enemies just vaulted over your barricades, walls and choke points? It would render the siege experience a bit pointless.

I think that the Trickster (Bard/Rogue) would fit the lunge the best. Give him the ability as a skill with three charges, and a long cd on the recharge. I get the feeling of mobility when i think of the trickster.

  • I also like this jump skill, you can even make jumps in opposite direction of the first jump. So, you can jump out form a window and jump back in the upper floor's window with one single jump sequence. (tested)

Despite it is very funny thing, I found it OP and make the horse totally useless. Maybe they will add something to the horse riding later to make it more useful.

The horses are better on long distances. Tested it and the horse wins in long and medium distances easily.

  • I do not question that in an empty test environment the horse is faster. Maybe my play-style is strange, but I usually move in hills, between obstacles. Any time I tried the horse I had to move around. With jump, I was able to move straight additionally, I was able to remove the fall damage with a well used jump. The other thing is that I almost never travel long distances. But as you confirmed that it is faster, I give it another chance.

Okay, lets say that you have to run from the zone yeah? The new safe area is far away. Then the horse for example is always faster then jumping. The horse can sprint btw, making it thrice as fast as normal running. You can also jump from the horse quickly, scale a mountain, jump it down and then get on your horse again. Thats how I move in APOC....
  • In this case I need to learn/practice, how to change fast between different movement method.

To be honest, I found this acrobatic jumping only Saturday night. It was a huge upgrade in my travel speed. I tried the horse, but this A-D control is frustrating for me. So I did not feel that I need more, but I will give a try to it.

Yeah I agree the controls are horrible

Look up into the air, press rightclick and then leftclick ;)
You can chain jump by keeping pressed rightclick and then repeatedly clicking leftclick
