Intrepid should remove microtransactions from APOC

Hello all sorry if this is done to death topic. I used to post and lurk back in old forums and havent kept up with the new.

That being said I dont see why Intrepid should have cash shop in beta test. Its unethical and money it brings in isnt worth the cost in bad PR. If this is too much I would atleast recommend them making all of the store items earnable as well in adventurers path. Preferably the free one as it's lackluster.

I have heard only two good arguements against this. First is, that they need to pay for servers but if that is the case I would be worried they need us to pay for their testing and second much more credible bad PR/community trust wont matter since if game is good it will sell itself. While I am somewhat inclined to believe this I would say this kinda thing is hard to predict and there have been games that were okay but had such bad "notoriety" no one played em, best not to gamble.

I hate to add to your dissatisfaction with the CS in APOC but it's become an industry standard of most BR games to provide a cosmetic shop. I personally don't mind it as it adds no real advantage in combat.
yes, it is a testbed for the MMO but it's also going to be its own stand-alone game.

Folks are always going to be divided on a cash shop in any form. As for the concern with PR, I would just wait it out. People need to have some drama to feel validation, so let them have it. Once the MMO starts to roll out its Alphas / Betas and releases the conversation will switch focus and I am almost certain the BR will fade a bit.

but to be its still gambling and some governments are looking in to it and might be banning micro transactions from there country's , so they there them be different visions of the game or the game never comes to them country's , so them what happens to the backers and this is one of the reason why they should not be doing micro transactions as are they not for the players

I'm in the camp of no microtransactions in games but what Makinoji said is true. in this day and age, it easier to count how many online games DON'T have microtransactions that those that do and it is depressing but intill the gaming industry kicks its self in the ass and removes or governments do them I don't see microtransactions leaving ashes.

  • While I don't have a problem with the micro transactions I can see a lot of people do. All the games I've played since I was little have had them basically. I don't see a problem with them if they're for cosmetics but that is also my opinion.

As long as intrepid doesn't throw everything out the window and have loot boxes for gear and stuff then I think the cosmetics are fine. People can choose to or not to buy them. It'll help with server costs and add some extra money flow along with.. the others lol.

These threads remind me of the interviews they did during the health care repeal push. They went to the poorest county in West Virginia where something like 80% were on government aid of some sort and asked them what they thought. Most of the responses were "We need to get rid of Obamacare, we don't need it, I get my health care through the ACA, so get rid of that Obama stuff!"
