taughts on wildlife

In a recent video (which was amazing) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ctc0hb0oYpo
we see the tiger like creatures hunting on prey.
That concept would be amazing creatures hunt an kill eachother. Your blood may be attracting other beasts. Another species tries to protect the other, safeguarding the piece of land. and so on.
basicly a more extensive wildlife system i would find amazing. any news on that? what are your taughts?

Ultima Online tried to do this.
They made a whole ecosystem, but players ruined it.
The herbivores actually ate the grass, the carnivores killed them, the players were supposed to focus on the carnivores, the gras grew again, more herbivores would spawn to eat the grass, more carnivores come to eat the herbivores etc.
The problem was that the players killed EVERYTHING. Even the animals that gave nearly zero exp and no resources. They murder hoboed around, like a swarm of locusts.

Star Wars Galaxies also did this but to a very limited degree, with big creatures feeding on little creatures and so on. It was pretty neat at the time.

@Damokles Steven and others played ultima online. We are now a decade later if they take some ideas from that they sure can finetune it today to make it work.
@Atama that gives me hope because there are developers from star wars galaxies working on the game.

The dead do not squabble as this land’s rulers do. The dead have no desires, petty jealousies or ambitions. A world of the dead is a world at peace

There are quite a few games that have neutral creatures attacking others or exhibiting predator or prey behaviour. If all you want to see is the occasional wolf attacking a rabbit then that really isn't that hard to implement. Of course, if you are looking for realism on par with Ultima Online then you might be disappointed.

As with many things in mmorpgs there is only so far you can go when it comes to making a "realistic" world.

@Wandering Mist anything more then static deers spawning and just being there is nice. The deeper it goes the better. Herds might need to move to keep up with the warm climate. Some might die in winter with snowfall (and disappear) . They can do some fun stuff
