Ashes devs. in the open world with PvE content and creatures drop items and other resources - it need to be designed that items drops for the person or group who engange the monster first. Ninja looting is a broken open world mechanic and it can happen, because the game is not ready.

No one took damage almost in a fight vs a world boss, health bars barely moved.. It is important to have some PvE mechanics into larger world boss fight, and a good strategy how to defeat it.
I am aware it is alpha stage, but Ninja looting need to be solved before the beta start, and it is not look promising to invest a lot of $ into it to get an early access with the current stage of development.

In Ashes, the group that deals the most damage to the target will get the loot.
  • Ninja looting does not need to be solved before beta. It is something that can easily be changed and tweaked at any point in development, and even after development with a patch. Don't worry about it. Unfair ninja-looting will not be included, our devs are very experienced MMO players themselves.

Yes. The game is not ready. That's why it's not playable yet. You cannot invest any mount of money to gain early-access to the game and play today.
  • But they have expressed interest in including mechanics that SUPPORT betrayal, so while ninja looting may not be included (or possibly in some way it may), there will be other ways to sabotage and betray your own clan.

To prevent a boring world where everyone is friends, or one giant clan conquers everything PvP and PvX games usually encourage intrigue and politics and espionage and the likes. It's a big part of what stops a clan from just growing without any consequence. Spys and backstabbers will be a part of this game.

There absolutely will be. For better or worse.

Ninja looting one encounters worth of rewards would be at the low end of what is possible, yet at the high end of what is obvious.

A player could very easily tell a rival guild when your guild is planning on running caravans - as the hardest thing to do in regards to attacking a caravan is having the numbers at the right time and in the right place. A little early notice of this will help, and the results could be 100 times worse than ninja looting an item or two.
  • That's the kind of intrigue and emergent gameplay I'm craving!
    Mm-mm!
