    Again the perfect cases in point - Albion Online and Eve Online.

    You're trying to force more of your themepark mentality into a sandbox - it's like trying to force a triangle into a square hole.

    It's not though, both these games you mentioned have vastly open ended progression systems that allow players to almost completely expand their character. Also Albion has an end game it's CTA logging, hell gates, and crystals.
