Old MMO Nostalgia - A Thought

Greetings to all. I hope all is well for everyone.
I have been seeing more and more about Ashes of Creation, and am finding it to be more and more interesting. I have also been watching more content and all looks promising, with my most recent watch being that of a Q and A with Steven Sharif. He made it very evident he enjoyed community involvement and ideas, so here I am. I am excited for the scope and hope to see success in future implementations.
With this stated, I wanted to crawl back into my younger MMO days, all the way back to something from Asheron's Call. The specific mechanic was something I found engaging and was a large piece of what kept me playing that game for so long.
Asheron's Call had a fealty system that was utilized as a function of a guild. With this said, one feature of this system was a Patron/Vassal system. This system pretty much built their guild function but was unique in how it worked (at least as far as i have seen). With this system, a Patron would take on a Vassal under them. There was a skill that could be developed (Fealty) which allowed for a Patron to benefit (more), from the leveling and development of their Vassal, via a small bonus to experience they could gain. I, personally, found this to be interesting in a couple of ways.
First, it created a structure to a guild naturally. Second, it gave more seasoned players another reason to seek out and find newer players, and help them advance. I enjoyed being a Vassal (I learned the game from my Patron) and also enjoyed sharing with Vassals of my own. There were negatives to this as it was abused to the point of creating insane EXP chains, but implementation with this in mind might be interesting.
I wanted to put this idea out for discussion and see what others feel about the possibility of implementation of a function, similar to this, in Ashes of Creation. As stated above, this is something that has stuck with me, with positive nostalgic value, for over 20 years and i have yet to see it put in place elsewhere. It could be a driving factor to development of others as well as a community driving factor.
I look forward to discussion regarding this. Do you think this is something that could add positive value to Ashes of Creation?

I noticed in the leveling section on wiki that there is something which is called mentorship
https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Leveling#Mentor_program
Is that something similar to what you described?
If both are clerics:
- shared mana pool or mana flow between them
- enhanced each-other's healing if they have less than 25% health
- inherit a random mentor skill every 60 sec.
- some interesting ability if one of them dies.
- blink to mentor and get 3s damage reduction, applied also with delay.
