Farming, Husbandry and Bees

First of all, I'd like to say that I'm extremely excited by the prospect of doing some farming on the side! Since the wiki is a little sparse though, I wanted to give some food for thought.
What kind of animals could be used for livestock? Cows and chicken are listed, but could you also breed a magic deer to give you shimmering deer milk?
What can livestock be used for? Is it just milk and eggs, or could livstock also be butchered for meat, feathers, and other useful bits? Can certain livestock be used as work animals to make life a bit easier for the hired farmhands?
Do crops and livestock require specialized areas, like a barn and a field, or do they just get placed around the terrain?
If a node falls, and freeholds become free to loot, what happens to livestock and crops? Can they be detroyed/killed/harvested by attackers, do they count as ressources available for looting upon destruction, or are they saved like complete items?
Is it possible to improve crop yield via items, magic, special buildings or special care? For example, crafting a fertilizer from bones and magic dust could be applied to a field before planting wheat to get a better harvest in fall, or if intense farming requires the land to rest for a rotation, fertilizer could be used to renew the land instead.
Are there specialty farmhands? Doing a quest to enlist a specialist could be another neat way to personalize a freehold.
Lastly, I leave you with this: Imagine a sea of flowers. Petals dance on a soft breeze and you hear a gentle humming as a pudgy little yellow-striped dot flies past you. It joins its kin towards a small, dome-shaped construct that sits in the shade of a tree, collecting the pollen of countless blossoms to create sweet, rich honey in the hive. You sit up and take another sip of the wonderful mead the beekeeper made you.
I want to be that beekeeper. Please, make my dream a reality.
Vote for bees.

Magic deer to get shimmering milk? I understand that we are in a fantasy game, but magic deer? Really? This ain't harry potter man.
As of now, the only livestock that exist are cows and chickens and they can only be used to obtain milk and eggs respectively.
Crops can only be farmed on your freehold.
If the attackers successfully destroy your node, they can attack your freehold. However you're also allowed to defend your freehold and if you're successful, you won't lose any resources.
As for fertilizers, they don't exist yet. But what kind of fertilizer do you expect to get from bones and magic dust? Are you ok?
No, there are no specialist farm hands. They are just meant to be used as an extra pair of hands. I don't see a reason why you would want to customize them.
As for beekeeping, it might exist under farming later on. But as of now, it doesn't.
I'm sorry if my enthusiasm and imagination hurt you somehow.
I answered your questions. Obviously they can be included in the future, but as of now they don't exist.
Also, quite the imagination I must say. Never seen farmers use bone dust as fertilizer before. Or magic deer with shimmering milk.
It's clear to me that there's a lot more planned, so I want to speculate a little, maybe exchange hopes with other enthusiastic fantasy farmers.
I never said it was outrageous. I merely answered your post as is. I'm sure they will add fertilizers later on. It only makes sense to do so. As for customizable farmhands, I don't know about that.
"Honey has long been used as a topical antibiotic by practitioners of traditional and herbal medicine."
Yes! Honey is amazing. It can be used for cooking, medicine, alchemy, maybe even taming animals like bears or badgers? So many possible applications.
I heard a bird ♫
Specifically though, deer milk is just meant as an example for an ingredient that's a bit more special than cow milk. Maybe when making a cake it adds a little magic resist buff or something.
No, not hating on it I swear lol it's just that it sounds funny. I've seen more sparkling things in other MMOs so the sparkle/shine stuff doesn't bother at all. And yes, things should have a flavor as the example you gave so it makes sense.

I do believe there's going to be a fairly large amount of depth upon release, simply because having an app to manage the farmhands would be very strange otherwise. I'll remain very hopeful.
I'd love to wander through the world and see other people tend to their bees!
We have no information as to how a lot of what you are asking about will be handled. These systems are yet to be implemented fully and tested. We don't know if fully completed items are lost or not, but i wager that gear that you have inside your chests at your freehold will be lost if the freehold is destroyed or another node doesn't take up the ZOI of the destroyed one during the safe period after a successful siege.
My guess is there will be a lot more than just cows and chicken to use for farming animals.
We will have to wait and test these systems. Also, the developers purposefully do not give out all of the information because they want players to discover how systems work to a 100%.
Knowing all the information in advance is not always a good thing.
-Pravchenski, yelling this at some twigs in sand, in a desert.
For sure! I'm not advocating for full disclosure or data mining, just some exhange what other ppl are hoping for, or would think would be cool or reasonable.
Pravchenski is a friend.
Fairly big depth, sure. I mean the feature of unique mounts and stuff they arent getting away with it not being there on release. But you know, stuff like table sfor crossbreed animals products and special products of that husbandry, might have to wait for that. I mean maybe its already done and i hope it will be enouygh for you to have fun, im just saying if they dont have it figured out yet, it might have to take a backseat.
I do love your enthusiasm. If they do implement bee keeping, I for sure will be on the look out for your hive! I believe they are not giving us all the details on every profession simply to keep the exploration factor, but I can see many game play benefits for bee keeping.
Thank you I agree completely.
Great thinking!
I'm down to trade queens if we're on the same server ;P

But I would recommend you temper your expectations. I have seen this type of excitement before.
You imagine some crazy magical world so full of depth that it feels like a second life in the world of your dreams. And while AOC while surely be fantastical and full of depth, let's not forget it's just a videogame.
Don't let the potential let down of not seeing all your dreamed of features, have you take it out on the game. So many people build cathedrals in their minds and then get disappointed when presented with an actual small tangible church instead.
Except this. This sounds icky deer milk that shimmers eeeewwwww
If there are any freehold NPC's I'd love to be able to give them some clothes/armors in order to change their appearance (maybe even using my own shop skins on them) I liked this in FFXIV when your retainers could wear whatever their class was and it'd actually show. Thought this added such nice flavor/flare and gave me another thing to do with nice looking armor I didn't need!
Hear! Hear! A vote for bees! Lil bumblin blobs of beautiful mush. Lil bebes flying around. So cute.
For release I expect a pretty shallow freehold system tbh. Basic functionalities of the stuff they promised. Then a few months of bugfixes. But then I hope they start adding the depth to the systems
I definitely hope there are bees and even shimmering milk! It's a fantasy game, lets put the fantasy back in it!
