Regarding the Tulnar

I wanted to speak regarding the Tulnar, and give suggestions, and a place for others to share what they know / what they want from the Tulnar.

The Lore states that they were left behind when the apocalypse happened on Verra, and they are now the result of crossbreeding between the 4 player races and other minor races.

Now, I sincerely hope this means that they will be able to look similar to the other races, only they'll be a little more dark / grey and edgy looking, especially with some beautiful bio luminescent blue highlights. I definitely think there should be the option to be more fierce, bestial and brutal looking, especially considering their environment, but I would PLEASE ask that the Tulnar can also look elegant, and beautiful.

I looked at some of the silhouette concept pieces, and the humanoid ones looked rather sharp, jagged and shriveled even, I truly hope we will be able to make our humanoid Tulnar look like crack addicts, OR athletic agile things, (And many more options!) and the option to add elf ears, beast ears or human ears is there.

I am just imagining a Dark Elf with glowing blue bio luminescent highlights and I am practically drooling.

Not sure if there is more info considering the Tulnar then what is on the Wiki, but if there is, please link it for me! :)

Edit: Also, please let us put some awesome horns on our Tulnar!

Please no, there are plenty of 'elegant and beautiful' races as it is. Tulnar shouldn't look like twisted versions of the original races, give them a bit more flare than just beastial highlights on certain parts of the body or a darker skin tone. If they were to implement your ideas I would very much hope they'd just add those options into the default customisation options for the appropriate races instead of making them into a Tulnar.

I think the silhouette concepts look great, those tails and the jaggedness make me feel like they're going to be really interesting, for the most part I'm really not a huge fan of playing races that mostly resemble humans. There's already a huge opportunity to make a crazy race out of the small foundation that they've laid out for them.

Evolution can change a lot, making them into shroomy elves and humans would be a real shame.

There should definitely be the option to go full out beast on the Tulnar, and looking at the early concept art, there is already plans to implement them as beast races, but also as humanoid, I think the option should be there for both, and what I am arguing for is adding the option of making more elegant looking Tulnar, reading the wiki, I got the vibe that Steven wanted to make it so you could pretty much fit anywhere on the spectrum, adding beast like features, and even fur, or no beast like features at all.

You seem to be thinking that it's one or the other, and I really think this is not the case, just because you wouldn't personally make your Tulnar look elegant, why shouldn't others be enabled to do that?

In the Wiki Article, it even specifically states:
"Tulnar is the only race with the capability to adjust racial appearance in a significant manner."

    Specifically adding:
"Tulnar race does not have sub-types, instead, players will be able to customize the appearance of Tulnar characters."
"Players will have dials to adjust the reptilian, mammalian, humanoid, and other attributes of their Tulnar character in the Character creator."

I also sort of found your response to misinterpret what I said, or possibly to have just not understood fully what I wrote. I'll reiterate; I think that Tulnar should be able to look elegant, beautiful and Majestic in addition to looking bestial, fierce and brutal.

I think there probably was some misunderstanding, I do definitely want the Tulnar to be able to embrace the full beast aesthetic, I was under the impression that you just wanted the Tulnar to only have beast-like highlights throughout their body. I also hope that if the player can have no beast-like features then the race underneath is something cool and unique, something that is easily distinguishable as a Tulnar.

I'm all for a more tame look but coming from their background I think there should be something which distinguishes them as a little wild consistently, although this is obviously down to preference and I can definitely understand why someone might not like that!

I wasn't aware of the diversity of their appearance either so thankyou for pointing that out to me from the wiki.
  • those silhouettes look like they'd be considerable more work for all the armor, weapon, and gear to interact with each

Just give me the option to make a scorpion/humanoid and ill be happy
  • Tulnar is the only race with the capability to adjust racial appearance in a significant manner.[18]

Tulnar race does not have sub-types, instead, players will be able to customize the appearance of Tulnar characters.[7][19]
Players will have dials to adjust the reptilian, mammalian, humanoid, and other attributes of their Tulnar character in the Character creator.[7][20]
Mammalian Tulnar may have snout features, fur and inverted knees.[21]
Reptilian Tulnar may have more circular eyes and head shape, and scaly skin.[21]
There are feline and bestial components that can be scaled up when creating a Tulnar character but Tulnar do not equal furries.[22][23]
Catgirl and **** Tulnar are not able to be created.[22]
Tulnar do not equal furries, but there are definitely some bestial components that you can scale up when you're creating your Tulnar character, so you could max that setting I guess. Whether or not that would give you what you would think of as a furry, I guess it's going to be up to your interpretation of what a Furry is.[23] – Steven Sharif

Q: Will character creator allow us to make Tulnar that might look somewhat like Kobolds from Pathfinder or DnD?
A: I wouldn't say exactly, but there's definitely elements of Kobolds that you could incorporate in a character creator with the Tulnar, yes.[24] – Steven Sharif

I would really love to be able to make a Tulnar that looks like the Aurin from Wildstar (except obviously in the AoC art style). They were such a fun race. I want something with a fairly standard human form, but small and cute in height/body size (so more Aurin size, not at all Miq'ote size, and not stocky - we have dwarves already). I'd also love to be able to keep animalistic bits to just tail/ears, because I've seen games do the inverted knees or animalistic features on faces and I don't love it - I played Firran in ArcheAge and I don't really want that here (that race was also too tall and human-like). Now that I think of it, Aurin are sort of fairy-like beings. Something small and fun with human features and animal ears/tail/accents - but still an attractive race and not something ugly or weird.

Tulnar should be a twisted version of all main/minor races in Verra so you might be able to merge an elf with some of the other minor races and get something u want possibly i kinda want a mix between a charr from GW2 and your normal half animal u get in game like the FF14 miq'ote so somewhere between a more beastlike Miq'ote but not as beast liek as a charr somewhere in between i would love to see a char :)

I really wish for options to create a faun-like character. I think Py'rai would be a perfect candidate to make a faun.
