Combat system experiences and ideas

I like what you are doing here.
I sunk thousands of hours into Lineage2 and it brings so many memories when I'm looking at AOC. Basically I'm playing it on and off since 2003 to this day.
First successor of Lineage2 was suppose to be TERA, when the main group of developers that were working on Lineage3 split away from NCSoft and created Bluehole studios.
Yes, I sunk thousands of hours there too since the open closed beta in 2012.
It was very pretty for the time. But they did many mistakes.
One thing they nailed was the hybrid combat system.
It was kind of hybrid action combat with tab targeting that you are trying to achieve.
But instead of clunky mouse cursor toggling they went down the road of hovering over the target to select a target for tab targeting skill.
This made the combat feel very fluid even if it wasn't pure action combat.
I would love to see something like this to be considered for AOC as well.
Please give it a thought.
And thank you for being so open and transparent, we needed a company like yours to come and release the corporate chains that gripped mmorpg world for too long.
I'm looking forward to sink thousands of hours to AOC as well.

That is not dead which can eternal lie. And with strange aeons even death may die.
I don't know if ESO did it the best but they got a lot of things right imho which is why I stayed with it for so long. Now class balance was another matter entirely which is why I am not playing it atm.
I'd rather avoid animation cancelling and horrid carpal tunnel, personally.
Really opened up alot of control and positioning I could do.
Problems with eso's combat is the clipping as @halbarz said
And heres a couple other issues
-lack of magic weapons for melee magic players
-cc's break free tied only to stamina resource (huge disadvantage for magic)
-spastic gameplay with button mashing
-bad server/client side character positioning making lag delays/skill delays/dysyncs
If AoC could incorporate a little bit more active control like blocking but maybe not dodging since that will be its own stat or active ability I think? Then it would he nice
Curious about the hybrid system they are going for. You could choose your combat style, right? Chances are I will likely go 90% action and 10% tab (100% action -0% tab if possible). Guess we'll have to await further testing to give us more insight in AoC's combat.
