Anything like Soulshots and Spiritshots?

So much of the game is l2 influenced. I have not seen anything about things like the Soulshot and Spiritshots system from l2. Will AoC have anything like this?

I don't actually "like" the system. I just lived with it. Basically they were a stack of items that you could toggle on to make your attacks deal more damage per use. Some weapons like bows would use like 8 per attack, and you would have have a ton of them. I was never in love with the system. Just curious if AoC is going to have something like it.

  • I definitely don't remember such a system being mentioned. I could be wrong of course, but it might also be too early for such details to be revealed yet. It's all still very technical.
  • Ya I'd rather that not be a thing for the main archetypes at least. I'm not a fan of having to use consumables to make a class work in combat. It just would feel like a system there to make balancing the game harder. I'd rather it not be like that so they can balance the damage around not being huge variables of consumables.

I don't mind needing reagents for certain auxiliary use spells though. Just not in the damage rotation.

I hated the look of SS, however, I liked the organizational thing it brought to the game.

I think that the repair system can act in the same way SS did in L2.
Without repaired gear you cant fight at your best, so you'd better run around a bit to get your repairs (ss) organized, before heading out of the city.

I hope you are right. I remember hearing that the repair system would not just be flat gold, but materials. If I remember correctly SS were made from the same mats for their gear tier. That may be mystery solved.

No info about it so far.

I lived with it as well, but lets remember what it did for the game, and maybe get a clue(probably not) if it has a chance to be here.
    • It created a resource sink, so it was an economy mechanism.
    • It also encouraged to enchant items. Remember that you needed crystals to make SS? you could get the crystals ONLY by destroying gear through enchantment. In order to get crystals, you had to craft the item, which puts a requirement on having crafters and mats, and then enchant it.

Will here be something similar? idk, depends how the economy will be built.
