Weapons, Armor, and other strap on

How does gear work? Weapons have no auto attacks, so do they have skills? Do certain class skills require soecfic weapons such as rangers many bow related skills? How will armor work? Can i just swap between cloth and plate as jeeded for dmg types or do they have a skill to level? Can we expect something similar to a wow trinket that gives us an extra active ability? I have so many questions
