Information availability

On External Tools. There have been a number of games that allow for data-mining/api's of much of the game's data. This is very handy and leads to some great innovations/integrations. One I could foresee is website/discord integrations to sync permissions with ranks/offices in game. To announce events, statuses, and player information being available or tied to those accounts via a plug-in. Making the data readily available enables these creators to build tools that further help guild leaders to do their jobs without a lot of the manual steps necessary. Discord is a very good example. There is a bot called Charlemagne that shows raid stats for users. There are many other examples. What thought have you given to data-mining and availability of game/guild/player details being available externally.

On External Tools (part 2). There are bishops, mayors, guild leaders, all with important roles in the world. Will there be apps/tools external to the game to manage those responsibilities. For example a guild management tool on your website, or phone app. Inventory management, like Destiny 2 had (3rd party), Town management. These are helpful for a person that's busy and doesn't have the ability to log in right away to make an important change, such as securing a vault or demoting a member, queuing the next project, etc.

Comments

  • I heard that there will be a farming app for gatherers.

@CaptnChuck ugh, i didn't hear that and I really hope that you're being facetious.

I'm more interested in something like an API or JSON export that can be accessed by something like a website or discord bot to sync guild permissions with a forum or discord permissions, display a guild roster, or give war status, etc. Logistic functionality. We don't need another farmville app.

@Flagg he's not trolling you, the mobile app will have some farming elements to it (as well as the other stuff you were actually wanting like help with being a Mayor or King.)

@loghan and @CaptainChuck thank you. You have answered one part of the question that I was curious about and I'm thankful from a GM's standpoint that there will be tools to lessen the management overhead of such activities. Farming... meh.

I want to give you both credit, but the larger question is about api interfacing. I'm a programmer and would like to be able to access, say guild related data for my guild to populate permissions, ranks, or simply to display a roster out of game on discord for example. Perhaps be able to connect a discord user to their in-game character and give pvp or pve stats.

To give a clear example !pvp displays their K/D ratio and participation information in different categories like arena for instance.

So I could !pvp to see mine or !pvp @Flagg to see someone else's stats. We had this in destiny 2 and it was tied to warmind.io. We could get raid stats, pvp, pve, etc.

@Flagg I hope they will do many API to pull out data like that !

I don't believe this is the place for answers, despite it being a place to ask questions. For that reason this question will be redacted.

@Flagg It doesn't sound like Steven plans to support much of what you're hoping to do, he's either trying to discourage it or he has in game systems to serve that purpose instead. Here is the Wiki on API

"There will be integrations available for streaming services such as Twitch and a few other services, but it's not something that will be exposed through an API just yet."

Ah, that's okay. It's just a pain having to manage guild removals, permissions and such through multiple platforms. They wrote their own discord bot, at the very least, it would be cool if they had their own bot that could be invited to your server to do some of those logistics if needed.

Hi there! It looks like other members above helped point you in the right direction, by sharing our current philosophy on APIs as discussed on the helpful community-run wiki here. If you have any follow-up questions based on this, I'd recommend bringing them to an upcoming AMA or live stream Q&A session so our team can dive in further!

I'm going to go ahead and close this thread out now, but please don't hesitate to reach back out if there's anything further we can assist you with in the meantime!
