Terrain, Movement, and how it affects combat
Luthienstorm
Should terrain affect movement? Will certain races move faster than others in certain terrain? Other games try to "balance" combat with terrain instead of abilities. This leads to different areas favoring different classes and different races. In other words everyone is "the best" in their environment. Not so much that you can't out skill or potentially out zerg your opponent. Do you think Ashes of Creation should try to have terrain affect movement and connect different races with different terrain?

No I don't think so. That will force certain races to only play in certain regions, which will ruin the game.

no, everyone would just play the race in the most common environment, and only that.

It could be cool if each of the races had a very unique terrain that they reside in or near (like Nikua getting a slight speed buff in the water) but it appears like there will be a lot of crossover so it could be tricky to lay that out as i think to be fair all 9 races would need a terrain they are great in and one they arent so great in
