Death at Sea

DolyemDolyem Member, Alpha Two, Early Alpha Two
I am sure there are many who plan to take part in much of the content at sea, whether just transporting via ship, living the pirates life, or being a pirate hunter. But my question is, how is death at sea being handled? Will your ship be destroyed? Are there random spawn points in the water? Will you spawn to the nearest island? What if you were on an ally's ship? Will they need to sail a long way to pick you up? Not to mention are monsters and NPC's capable of destroying your ships as well?

The dead do not squabble as this land’s rulers do. The dead have no desires, petty jealousies or ambitions. A world of the dead is a world at peace

So if you die at sea you better get a rez, otherwise you are going to have a LONG way back to your party

If your ship is destroyed at sea keep in mind you cannot summon another one, so your group will be swimming back to shore (or port) to spawn another one.

Is that your assumption or is that confirmed?

I think this was confirmed by Steven during the Asmongold interview. I do like this as ArcheAge was ridiculous when people wanted to do Kraken people could quickly pop out 15+ ships and quickly zerg it down before other faction realized they were doing it.

That makes sense but I was curious since there is apparently plenty of underwater content and even dungeons, so I was wondering if there would be spawn points near those sorts of things.

You can summon your ships up but you'll need to summon them from land, which means that if something happens to your armada out at sea you won't have backups to just summon immediately in the middle of the fight... They'll have to do so from shore somewhere from some port or harbor.[17] – Steven Sharif
