(bad english sorry)
How the melee in ash will be ?

Do we will have melee feeling like wow auto attak + skill (when you do skill mortal strike or execute you feel the power ) feel amazing to play

or is will be like eso you have to click and do big rotation for doing normal damage (AA alrdy doing on any normal mmo)

i hate this feeling

Because in eso , i feel like when im playing melee , i play a mage but melee (fake melee feeling)

I hope some understand what i try to said

I know exactly what you are saying. I had a similar gripe with the Berserker class in TERA Online, where you had to slowly charge up your attacks. I tried to make it work but I couldn’t stand it after awhile. It was so boring. And I’ve played other games where melee just doesn’t feel “right”. Like you said, you feel like a mage class that just happens to be casting short range spells and doing melee animations.

I suspect that you will be have a lot of choice because...

Any class can use any weapon, so you will have a variety of melee weapons to choose from.

You then pick between 8 classes to use abilities with your chosen melee weapon.

You also modify your main class based on your second class, of which you have another 8 to choose from.

And you can then pick specific moves and skills out of everything available to you. So if there are some melee combat techniques that feel wrong to you, don’t use them.

I think you’ll be pleased. But until we get a chance to actually try out the weapons and classes in Alpha there isn’t any information more specific than that. And even in Alpha, you may get some rough gameplay that won’t be smoothed out until later stages of development so even then you might not really know how it is going to feel.

Ashes will not have an auto attack. Target time to kill is 30 seconds. If a player chooses to go glass cannon and is attacked by anther glass cannon, the TTK will be much faster. I think that we will have to wait and see.
  • The auto attack animation and sound effects looked on point in the recent livestream. The attacks felt like they had impact. So don't worry, I'm sure they'll nail it.

Combat for AoC is a big subject, and we don't know yet how it will feel like in game. Largely because of how they are mixing action combat with the more common target combat (like WoW etc.), although no auto attacks like has been said.

Alpha 1 is coming this fall however, and there we will get a better idea of how it will feel, but still an early iteration of it.

Haven't played ESO, but these are very competent developers, I'm not too worried about it feeling like what you describe.

I like tag target mmos over action combat ... the only reason I’m still interested in ashes of creation is it’s not Full action combat and at most they said only 1/4 of my skills will be forced to be action combat ... I hate twitchy games ... but AOC sounds good enough at the moment to still hold my interest ...

That said I dislike so many things from WoW for instance ... but it’s combat is so fluid and so above every other mmo out there I continue to play for that alone ...

If AOC can really nail fluid combat ... I will leave WoW ... if and only if the 25% of action combat skills I’m forced to use are not completely annoying to me and my competitiveness doesn’t greatly suffer from hating to use those skills to bad

It’s all about fluid combat to me and WoW is the best ... but any game that could be on par or better than wow with it’s fluidity in combat and have much better systems will definitely be my next game.

The only thing that worries me is the unreal engine use since it’s for single player gamers and small multiplayer games ... there has never been a successful mmo using unreal bones that had great large scale pvp combat ... I hope they pull it off though

I don’t think that has much to do with the engine. There honestly just aren’t that many successful MMORPGs, period. Most don’t last that long because they are costly, require people to stick around, and video gamers are finicky people chasing the latest shiny object.

I will say that a lot of new MMOs are using UE4. Based just on odds, I’m sure one of them will be successful. Hopefully that’s Ashes.
