will this game be free to play?

i feel a game with this much potential it would be amazing if it wasnt like wow the subscription based limitation is a killer for games like that and im wondering if this game will meet the same fate or if it will rise and become as good as games that are free to play with microtransaction to keep them afloat.

This game will have a monthly subscription to all users who have missed out on the kickstart package for 500$ witch would have granted you the will to play the game without paying the monthly fee

Its not its very serious now and day people have relied on the enjoyment of being able to play a game without devoting time and or MONEY to it they can play as much and as little as they want without having the need to dedicate themselves so yes its very serious and a big anonymous donor to this game i have become soulbound to my investment

An MMORPG needs to have newly designed content on a regular basis. If you don't have that, players will eventually reach the end and then quit cuz they have nothing else to do.

Its very difficult to create a game and release content, on a regular basis, if you don't have a large amount of developers. In order to have a large amount of developers, you need to pay them.

Money from micro-transactions is nowhere near enough to pay a large amount of devs in order to sustain a continuous content expansion cycle. That is why a lot of f2p games became p2w. A subscription fee, however, can do that.

Unlike in WoW, where the high box cost+sub fee is a high barrier of entry, there is no such thing in AoC. You can pay 15$ and start playing the game. And if you don't like it, don't pay.
  • Why post this twice?

So youre saying 15$ a month and cosmetic microtransaction is gonna be enough to sustain this game?

The subscription fee will be $14.99 per month. Depending on the region, sub prices will differ based on local economies. As well, with the referral program, users can earn Intrepid Bucks to pay down their subscription cost — even to $0.

  • Hey there! Looks like some of our friends have already given you more details on our subscription model above (as well as a handy suggestion for where to spin up continued discussion on this topic), so we went ahead and merged your two threads for any folks who may come to our forums with similar questions in the future!
