What do you want to see come of the "Ashes" as we create our new world

edited August 2020 in General Discussion

Just passing through

Have you ever thought about what kind of community based events we could potentially hold; the mysteries that surround this new land that we are about to embark. Well children of the ashes I wanted to pose this post for you to discuss about the different things that you would like to see... Pages are blank and the ink has yet to write the story; yet our brainstorming thus far has had it bear its fruit.

This world has begun its spark and now children it is up to us to determine its future.

One thing that I feel would be unique would be to potentially gather the use of Tarot Cards for not only like a Faire type event but to also use as part of our creation process. The Deck laid out and we are read our fortunes before embarking on the journey. Each reading would be unique to the combination or class that you have chosen. No good, no evil but a guidance to something about your class that is exclusive to what you could "become" and perhaps guide you to further your adventures through the use of "Seek out the _______ and you shall find your true purpose, life is never promised but I shall guide you to the best of my abilities"

I can see this also being useful to summoners, clerics, and all other classes; as the scales of judgment wait for no one but it is with that balance I feel this mechanic would give not only that wizardry feel but also give the UO feel of choosing your destiny based on the fates.

While all our ideas may be different this is just one of many of ideals that I think would make the game even more enthralling. I want to open it up to everyone to input something that as a general discussion we can truly turn into a masterpiece and give Ashes the advantage over the other MMOS out there. Let us rival EverQuest, Final Fantasy, and the many other MMORPGS and provide a world where we live "Gamestop's Motto" (Power to the players)

So with that said; let us open this thread to one idea that can build on the other. How would you change the thing above you to make it so it was unique?

Also when leaving answers, please leave an idea behind, to keep the participation going... I look forward to hearing all your ideas and I do hope our Moderators participate in this as well. Lets get everyone involved in this and lets arise from the ashes into light of the world we created.

I hope there are more than 2 sides on each server and I am hoping each server takes some time to build. If everyone is simply taking each other down...the benefits of a strong market may be affected and slowed.

Wind. I want realistic wind based on biome and season.

I want this to affect the sea.
I want boat Captains to have to master rough sea and high winds. Pirates and merchant vessels to have to weigh the risk of braving a tropical storm.

I want an advancing armies to be deterred by a sand storm. To be halted by a blizzard.

I want to see Kings made fools while riding their fancy dragons. They may rule the land but they must bargain with the wind.

    I want wind.🌬️

I want advanced politics: leaflets being dropped from the sky by the mayor of a metropolis node, telling people to surrender and live freely. I want posters on the walls, with propaganda against enemies. I want nodes calling allies in to defend. I want to see wars large enough to make entire continents tremble in fear.

Great ideas everyone, keep then going... I would like to see a mix of mechanics but most of all id like to see the opportunities to perhaps integrate something similar to Skyforge when it comes to faith; as someone mentioned temple building but lets go one step further and actually do a player ran committee for each city certain players are chosen based on how much they dedicated to the city; to balance the scales, it could be only reserved to those who "actively participated" in the functions of the city. Just something on the fly to go with what you said @winner909098 , perhaps they can do a regional weather warning for certain areas around the map @Hurf Derfman

It would be nice to see specifically how drastically the game changes from Day to night and how we could potentially have a wide variety of activities. Some cities could prohibit casino gambling during the day but be alive at night and have the night cycle last say 4 hours server time with an afternoon that would give a mix and perhaps do afternoon bazaar sales etc. So if we split it up Morning would be 4 hours server time Afternoon would be 4 hours and then Night would be 4 hours. 2 Game days would be in 1 Real day i think the 2:1 ratio would truly give more depth.

I would also want a detailed library and perhaps the ability for our characters to learn astrology in this new world and perhaps get the chance to actually study ancient ruins and go into an old library as a dungeon like they did in FFIXV. I think we could borrow concepts from all over, and truly make this game great out of our own thoughts.

    These are terrific starts :)

@MysticChronicle I'd rather the map not have edges and be a globe. If they wanted to add more content later they coul expand the under realm, have a dark God pull an island out of the sea or literally just open a portal to a new world.

But a globe is what I want.

I'm ok with the four hour day nights... On paper at least. A month in real life is a year in game. There are crops to rotate and a season is a week long. I'm all for immersion but if the farming system took longer than that I'd be a farmer in real life. 🤭

A globe version of the map would be cool, but I do see issues adding new lands in the future, unless they plan accordingly i guess.
