Mouselook ranged targeting...

Is there a possibility of mouselook targeting with movement essentially creating first person view but only in a "Scope View" essentially a sniper view...???

Comments

  • So far all I've seen is that it'll be 3rd person. However like the Rogue spyglass in the new video seems might be something easily done but with a limited field of view...

Sorry, didn't mean to actually post comment. Why is there no delete function?

Might as well say something useful, since I commented. This is from the Wiki:
    Camera settings

The aim is to provide a variety of camera options in Ashes of Creation.[121]

    Camera field-of-view (FoV) is customizable.[122]
Camera mechanics are similar to ArcheAge (hold mouse buttons to move the camera).[123]
First-person point-of-view may be able to be achieved by zooming the camera, but the game is fundamentally third-person.[104]

Q: What kind of camera distance is Intrepid using for fights? (WoW vs FF14)
A: Closer to FF14. We want people to have a wide range of view, especially since our battles will be very large. We want people to be able to visually access their surroundings.[124] – Margaret Krohn

We don't have the first-person zoom in because when you get into first-person there's a different animation set required for the holding of the weapon: The hands that you see in front of you; and we don't have those animations. So we're really focusing on third-person.[104] – Steven Sharif
So you'll likely be able to zoom in to where your character isn't visible and then hide the UI for no obstructions on scenic screenshots, but there likely won't be any functional first-person POV.
