Any thoughts on what role your be playing.

The anticipation of this game is killing me, I've been wondering what sort of character im going to create.
Anyone else had any thoughts?

First off I'm going for a Ren'Kai male, either Guardian or Knight.
Second character will try a Vaelune female, either High Priest or Templar.

Very excited to see more video content of races and classes, the in game footage seen so far has defiantly wet the appetite.
I tell you what i know about Dwarf's.
Very little

I'm gonna try out the bard classes first - test if I could see myself playing it long term.
Then I'll dip my toes in the other classes before I make a final decision - from there I'll pick an appropriate race.

See, this puts me in a bit of a quandary, as I like to regularly swap between all the roles. In games like WoW this is usually fine as I can pick a hybrid class and be able to play all the roles on a single character (maybe 2 depending on if I want to play ranged and melee dps). However, in Ashes it may not be possible to be this flexible and I don't know if I'll have the time to maintain 3-4 characters so that I can play every role.

Tank most likely, whatever race has a decent racial for PvP.

I couldn't tell you without the base classes all having their base abilities known.

I was kind of excited about the Strider class and being able to weave ranged and melee attacks together, but I'm not sure about the weapon switching mechanics yet either.

Id imagine maximizing healing capability as a first character would be invaluable. Your milkshake would bring all the boys to the yard in terms of group invites for pushing content, so I'll likely try high priest or some variant of cleric. But also really keen to see bard as well, especially minstrel. For solo pve and pvp content a rogue variant in a military node sounds like a lot of fun. Exploring dungeons for treasure and sick stealth assassinations as a bounty hunter; that sounds like the go for me!

Something tanky to make things happen, and a weapon master/duelist for personal glory.
Ranger has some cool concepts too, will probably be my third class after getting the feel of melee.

Dwarf ranger w/ fighter/tank. Exploration and gathering are my top priorities.

Will definitely prioritize an artisan playstyle, but currently torn between animal husbandry and general crafting.

Class-wise I would probably play an elf ranger or mage. Fighter also under consideration in case I roll a weaponsmith.

I used to play as priest in wow and scholar in FF14 for the benefit of shorter queues in group-finder, but have since then sworn to never play a healer ever again after being worked to death by some of FF14's raids' mechanics.

For primary account I'm looking at Empyrean Elf Bladecaller (Fighter/Summoner). It kinda sounds like the the Blade Master from Blade & Soul. Air dash (fighter charge in) and Flock of Blade (Summoner ability) gives off a Irelia from League of Legends vibe.

For 2nd character I'm thinking of going Tulnar Tank of some kind. I want to recreate my D&D character, a Blue Dragonborne Storm Herald Barbarian.

I'll probably toy about with it in the alpha 2/beta to make a choice.

Part of me wants to make a Fighter/Tank just because of the word Dreadnaught :D

Probably will decide in the alpha.
Most of my MMO days were spent with magical bruiser type characters (In WoW this for example was stuff like Feral Druid, Enhancement Shaman etc.), but ive slowly been gravitating towards more magic based character and been dabbling more into supportive/healer characters as well last few years.

So I will have to test where my real devotion will lie in this game :pensive:

I plan to make rogue-rogue my focus, but I wouldn't shy away from any secondary archetype nor I would shy away from a second fighter-anything class. All of it will depend on the gameplay loops they plan to give those archetypes - but I'd prefer melee primary archetype without mana overall

I've had the same issue. I hope a combination of correct stats plus the Tank augments will give some of the non-tank classes enough threat/mitigation to off-tank or tank easier dungeon content

It's too early for me to decide, historically in MMO's I've always enjoyed healing but i just don't know at this time if i want to continue down that path, yes healers will always be in demand and the option to specialise in one in AOC is tempting i admit but then you look at the professions etc, do you role a dps to maximize your chances of survival thus rewarding your gathering/crafting choices?
I'll keep watching posts/updates etc until I'm ready (though i gotta admit "Ship-building" sounds awsome, never done that before!!)
