perhaps it would be cool if in a tavern I was able to contract caravans to move my product for me.. or escort me.. or contract others to gather for me.. or bring me things I need.

    You're not alone. As an artisan / trader I'd love being able to outsource the whole caravan process to others (as long as it's profitable in the end).

    From the info available so far it seems you can at least contract someone to escort your caravan, but not sure if you can contract the entire caravan-driving process to others yet.
