I just spent £375 without any idea how this game works... How does the gear system work?

Need an idea of how the Gear system works from weapons to armour etc.

Can someone please explain how gear is obtained and the different varieties of gear?

    Game isn't even in Alpha 1 yet, there has been some comments via interviews/streams/posts/wikis, but no one actually has access to play the game yet to see it in action.

    All the best gear in the game will be obtained through world bosses. They will drop recipes and materials with a very very very low chance to drop an actual piece of completed gear. You will need high level crafters in your guild to utilize these recipes.

    There will also be crafted gear most likely. Since the system is from SWG I'm gonna assume the crafted gear is slightly worse than raid boss gear (Which is also technically crafted).

    Not everybody will get the best gear in the game, which will truly make owning a really good item feel unique.

    Everyone in here has linked or mentioned good points regarding the armor system, but since they are still in pre-alpha stages just know that everything is subject to change. So any information you have today may not end up being true tomorrow, however I would imagine most of the information on the wiki's will hold up through release of the game.
