Housing, music

Hey never bothered with housing in mmos unless there was a profitable function, teleports or buffs.

But here is an idea that I think people would enjoy.
What if you can channel music in your house? Let's say I am playing ahh.. streets have no name by u2 on my PC, and the audio plays ingame in my house.
All those that enter hear it.
Maybe visitors can request control of the music?

Idk, seems extemelly difficult but it might be a cool feature for chilling and socialyzing. Taking it to the next lv.

Not something I would want in a game. I remember a cool website called "Turntable.fm" I think? You could join rooms and link in music for people to check out. I actually used it a lot during the NA launch for Tera with my friends. It was kind of cool.

This is one of those things where I would just people use a out of game service that is devoted to the goal that you are trying to accomplish. Developing anything like this takes time away from other areas in the game. I feel the same way about in-game voice chat. Discord will always be better than anything that the devs make. Voice chat in AoC is a sub-system vs voice chat in discord as the main-system.

This is actually a good example of a feature that could be added to discord instead. I know often times my and my-friends will share screens to watch videos or browse patch notes together. We have even done this with music a few times. I would actually use the feature if I did not have to be in my house on AoC to listen to music synced with friends.

I agree that it is meaningless snd it takes resources. Just an idea

As an idea to be added to the game post launch, I quite like it.

Not everyone would use it, but it absolutely would add to our general ability to theme a house or apartment.

Walking in to a players library with a grand piano in the middle would be all the more impactful if there was also some Debussy or Chopin playing to go along with it.

There was a thread a week or two ago that suggested players using midi to make music in game, and I suggested that it would be a good idea to add to a "music" themed DLC (not that we have any word that DLC will be themed at all).

This is something that would fit in there perfectly.

In terms of being in game at launch - I am of the opinion that Intrepid will be cutting features ready for then, rather than looking for more.

I was about to post the same thing. I didn't like the idea of having it in my face in-game, but in your own house - that's your space. Do what you like in there!
