Mount Racing

With the crazy amount of mounts that seem to be available in this game, along with potential ship-building, do you guys think they could put player created mount races in the game? I think it would be an awesome guild created/ sponsored event to generate revenue for guilds. My friends and I have been talking about how cool it would be to breed mounts specifically for racing.

That sounds like a really cool idea! It's got me thinking about RP-ing a pirate (complete with crew of course) and other fun non-combat ways to play my character/s. I think it would help add to playable content after I've maxed a character.

There's already a planned gambling system so if you can find a way of letting users tag locations that people cross one after another and just distribute money based on bets? I don't know how difficult that would be but racing the boats sounds fun for an economic Island city.

I'm sure this is something the players will come up with on their own. It would be rather fun to watch.

Hopefully there's somewhere with little obstacles we can jump over, so it's not just a case of fastest wins. Would be an awesome idea.

wait, when did that happen? if it's true I'm glad that they've finally made a decision though.

afaik a few pages (of threads) ago ppl were still speculating & debating whether in-game gambling involving only in-game currency will be ok, and whether the devs would implement betting-enabled buildings / events (pvp arena & mount racing & plain usual casino etc.)

did I miss something?

We are going to have “parlor games” in taverns that allow you to make bets. See the wiki:

That wiki entry includes a screen capture from Steven where he says, “Players will be able to wager in-game currency against other players.”

So from Steven’s own mouth, yes gambling will be supported in-game as part of a Kickstarter stretch goal. This is 3 1/2 year old information.

Ah, thanks for the answer. Doubts cleared. (I swear I did try to search for "gamble / gambling" on ashes wiki but didn't get any results)

In that case I definitely hope there will be a system-assisted betting-enabled mount racing.
e.g. give high-level economic nodes the option to build race courses

Mount races would be fun. espcially thorugh different terrains that effect the speed.

A good breeder (animal husbandry) can definitely profit from such an endeavour, creating another use for in-game mechanics and professions. So I'm all for it.

Hopefully Intrepid will include a Mint Julep recipe people can craft for the races.
