Ashes of Creation Soundtrack.

Hi everyone,

Recently I came across information that the music for the game is to be created by Bear Mccreary, known e.g. from the last part of God of War. What do you think about his work, does it meet the high expectations of players and reflect the atmosphere of the game? I myself was a longtime player of Lineage 2 whose soundtrack is an unparalleled masterpiece in my opinion, so far I sometimes play other MMOs with muted sounds and Gludio, Giran, Hunter's Village, Oren themes in the background. In my opinion, music plays a huge role in MMO, it can turn a boring, gray landscape into something epic, but also spoil the most beautiful views with irritating sounds.

What do you guys think?

He did Black Sails too I think. I'm more than pleased with Bear Mccreary's work so far.

Don't know if he matches the atmosphere, we have yet to hear any of his work that has to do with Ashes of Creation.

My hopes before I too heard it was McCreary was Jeremy Soule. I think he composes the best and most befitting music for western fantasy games. But... I have high hopes for Bear McCreary, and I think he will do a good job.

Music is a important element of games to pull you into the mood of different situations, like big battles or when you step into a dungeon or raid for the for first time I think. I always admired the japanese composers music in most rpgs, final fantasy is my favorite they always match the emotions I get from the games.

I was looking in to the work of Bear McCreary the last days, especially from Black Sails, seems like a passionate composer, that loves to try different things, so i have high hopes for his work this game. And I would love to see some offical realease of the music in the game, i hope we get a taste.

Jeremy Soule is great. Probably most famous for his excellent Elder Scrolls work, but his Guild Wars work was incredible.

Absolutely agree regarding Lineage 2 music being a masterpiece, definitely my favourite music across all the games I've played. I don't play any games right now, but I'm working from home and I play Lineage 2 music in the background on a regular basis haha!

I really do think that music is important in games to create an immersive atmosphere. Hopefully McCreary manages to create some amazing music for AoC.

Bear did Battle Star Galactica. The third best Sci-fi show behind only Deep Space Nine and The Expanse. We are in fantastic hands. I normally mute music in MMOs because music is too ambient or repetitive. I think I will always end up with my own music on at some point, but I think with Bear doing the score Ashes OST might be the MMO that I listen to the most.

AOC does have thousands of hours to go if it wants to catch up to lineage 2 though. It has a shot for sure.

I hope the music is amazing! More so, I hope the boss music is amazing. Coming from FFXIV, hearing the music of some of the raids and dungeon bosses still gives me chills. I listened to some of the raid songs before I ever even played that game, and was a big factor in getting me to try it out to begin with.

Pfffft. Deep Space Nine isn't even in the top two Star Trek shows.

Popular and best are two different things. We might see that play out in a few years, when WOW is still toping the charts by living off its own nostalgia, while Ashes redefines this genre, and has less subs than ESO, WOW and FFXIV. No doubt Ashes will be the best, but I am not sure the average person will think it is in the top two MMOs.

I hope I am wrong and it just flat out is the best. Go Team!
