Voting system question and my idea regarding it
Will there be a voting system for the mayor/government positions ?
If yes i have some ideas regarding it , i have played archlord/rf online where they had a election system and it was alright, all the decision on who rules that said government/race will be empowered by the players.
But i found it weird that npc's as in all of MMOS/Games they don't have a decision, and here's some of my ideas based on that.
1. All npc's (and i mean all even those without a name like for example those named Villager for example ) in that said region/city/village depending for who will need to be elected to vote at random the people that run for mayor and if there's no competitor to cancel the vote of npc's.
2. Some of the npc's with importance in the region, if you want it to make it real-life do not include kids.
3. And here is with a system if its going to be implemented or not , while doing quests to that said npc, or gift him a "banana" to gain favourability and in return you will have a higher % to vote for you based on that favourability. If you want you can just rank the favourability of the said npc and just vote the highest if he's in the pool of election.
4. All npc's will vote at but based on your achievement's (like killing that Ancient Dragon in that dungeon somewhere that was terrorizing that region) - actually this one can go with the above as well.
5. And more heavy intensive tasks given to the server , A.I controlled npc voting system where you teach a npc to vote based on whatever variables you would want and he will vote based on that always or change if he learns what he can or cannot do and this will basically remove people that PK etc if in the variable you will let the A.I learn it. And just copy the resulted code - run it and multiply it by w/e number the npc's in that region are and you get a result to vote.
I agree this option is really hard to serve as i don't know how much the server can handle or if you have the necessary budget to keep alot of servers for this kind of things.
As a last note i would love the idea to have NPC's with A.I , or A.I npc given quests created based on some variables, the tech is there just needs to be implemented into MMOS

If you dont like the popularity contest, just go to a military node, or get your wallet out and buy yourself the mayor seat with ingame currency. Also I believe mayors get flying mounts. So expect them to be very sought after positions.
That is correct. Each node type has a different way of selecting a mayor. The scientific node mayor is chosen from a voting system. Economic nodes have a bidding war for the mayor. Divine node mayors are based on quest and progression in the reglions, and military nodes are based on combat.
