Sandbox Elements

This post will flesh out some ideas that I have been dreaming about for ashes of creation.

Question:
To what level/degree will “ sandbox “ elements be implemented?

Discussion:
Ashes of creation has already confirmed some sandbox elements to be implemented, such as the freehold system where the player can buy a plot of land, once per account. This plot of land will be their own personal territory however linked to their aggesent node. But to what extent will this go?

Idears:
First of all, when the mayor has ordered the construction of a set building within a node, this will have to be built by the citizens of that node. This is yet to be explained how to be done, as of my current knowledge. This could be done where there will be a construction site placed in the world, and by bringing resources to these locations this could be built. This also leaves a new question, how will this acturly be constructed? Will it just be materials placed and boom it auto assembles everything ( this seems likely ), or will you need a few skilled artisans to place everything together through some sort of minigame?

Also, if there will be this construction site system, will this in turn also work for buildings placed within freeholds? so that the time investment won’t be “ wait 3 days and your building is finished or pay xxxx embers for it to finish now! “ but the time it has taken to gather the materials and to have an artisan build it for you/ do it yourself.

This could also be implemented to the ship building, where a “ construction site “ would be placed within a workplace in the harbor for carpenter artisans that want to specialise in ship building, and from here there will be a mini game for them to actually build the ship, based on the model the game will differ.

Konklusion:
So this was a long one and I really want to hear other people's opinions!
This minigame system will likely not happen because that would just create a game within a game essentially. And though I think this is what an MMORPG really should be in its core, I doubt this will ever be the case purely due to how much development this will take.
but you gotta admit, it would bring everything to a whole other level.

Thanks for your time and have a great day!

We'll probably see how it transitions when the NDA is lifted on A1 testers.

    i.e. soon (TM)
I wish I were deep and tragic

I don't think you can pay with Embers for fast construction since that would be Pay to Win.

I agree with @tautau . At their core, this is not a P2W game so if something like that ended up becoming a reality, there would be massive backlash.

I like the idea you have on shipbuilding @fidobeast . Last Oasis had an AMAZING style when building a ship. You place it at a cost and it becomes the spot you build it in. As you click the hammer on each section, it would take your resources and immediately build the section. Once all sections were complete, you had a land ship to take anywhere you wanted. If this is the case in AoC, it would feel very similar. Build quick or we could get murdered and those moments were intense. Sometimes we would farm all the materials needed and others we would place it in a well hidden spot in the trees or in a crack on a mountain top.

Games within games are never a bad idea and some of the best games ever made have mini games (Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest just to name a few). I would even go so far as to call a tavern inside AoC to be a mini game of sorts. Something to play around with while inside the world of Verra. Hell, even Artisan play is a game itself imo.

ofcause, as i said, this was only ment as an option many other games tend to use, and the point of the post was to highlight the idear of the mini games for contrsuction aswell as and other things like it to make content for artisans at a gameplay level.

as i tried to really put a line under, it is NOT how the game will be, but an idear to make some kind of valued investment as the developers has said is the core of the game already. it is but only an idear as how to realise this into the world of vera

thank you, the ember part was only a reference to how other games tend to do it, and a dream and hope that AoC won't be.
i am really happy you cougt the essense of what i tried to say and allaborated on it!

i do love the idear of a mini game in MMO's, which is what i say in my konklusion, i do hole heartedly believe that the mini games systems is what acturly make up the actural game itself because they serve as excelent content
