Are Players restricted to servers in their region for Alpha-1?

Hello!
My group is currently prepping our Alpha-1 preorder plans and coordination, but we want to get some clarification on if the region servers are limited. The group has one EU region member who generally has highly performant connections to us in P2P links (fighting games mostly) so we assume that they can play from EU, on the NA server, without too much difficulty.
However, this raises the question of if this will even be 'allowed'. We're aware that normally people can play from anywhere in the world for MMOs and just take the 'hit' to their ping or whatever comes, but it is possible that there is more of a specific restriction in place for the Alpha due to its purpose, and more specifically, things relative to release, publishing in EU, and so on, that may not be obvious.
If there is not, can you briefly inform of any pitfalls that might result in being assigned to the 'wrong' server, both for this person and for any group who hope to all gain access together and therefore be able to give 'group experience feedback' such as ours?

The server/region options will change in the future and we'll get updated info when that changes.
